Siddakatte is situated midway between Moodbidri and Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada District. The Ursuline Franciscan Sisters stepped on the soil of Siddakatte in 1971. Sisters were teaching in St Patrick’s Higher Primary School which is under the Catholic Board of Education, Mangalore.
Sr. Benny Correa came to Siddakatte in June 2006 and in that year she started a play home for the children with four students. Gradually the number increased to 24 in the next year. Sr. Shanthi Lobo continued the mission.
Sr. Diana Saldanha became the Principal of the play home in the year 2010. The play home was functioning in a room in the convent building. There was a continuous plea from the parents to start a Pre-primary school. Sr. Diana approached the Block Education Officer of Bantwal Taluk and obtained permission on March 5, 2013 and opened a Pre-primary school. Hence Bal Christ Pre-Primary School came into existence on June 1, 2013. There were 65 students studying in Bal Christ Pre-Primary School in the year 2013-14.
At present Sr. Lilly Dias is the Headmistress of the school since 2015. It is happy to learn that 134 students study in this school during the year 2017-18.
