As the town population was growing, being aware of the quality education provided by the sisters the parents requested the Management of Ursuline Franciscans to open the English Medium School. Thus Nirmala Convent English medium School was established on May 31, 2003 by obtaining permission from the Department of Education which was worked out by Sr. Alice Mascarenhas. As the starting of the school was not announced earlier there were only7 students in first Standard and 27 students in LKG. Sr. Lilly D’Souz. The Headmistress of Kannada Medium School who had just made an entry at Balehonnur with her unique qualities, volunteered to take up the reins of the school too. Sr. Irene Mascarenhas from 2009 to 2010 shared double responsibility as headmistress of both schools, but the school did not suffer due to any shortfalls in administration. Later, when it was upgraded to high school in the year 2010 Sr. Leena fernandes was appointed headmistress of both Primary and High school English medium sections.
The first batch of SSLC students 62 in number walked out with 100% results. The second batch of 2013-14 also scored 100% results, Third batch of 2014-15 got 98% results, SSLC batch of 2015 -16 and 2016-17 also secured 100 % results.
The extension of new block was inaugurated on 2nd June 2014 by Rev. Sr. Apoline Cordero, The Provincial Superior, Mysore Province and was blessed by Rev. Fr. Charles Pereira, Parish priest of Our Lady of Victories Church, Balehonnur.
The school is highly favoured by the people of Balehonnur and there is a heavy rush for admissions in spite of the English Medium schools around. 574 students are formed inside the campus by a dedicated and qualified staff. As the strength of the students is increasing the school is in need of a new block of building.
