St Michael English Medium Higher Primary School

Hubli city is situated about 20 kilometres south-east of Dharwad between Malnad and the Deccan plateau. It is the commercial centre and business hub of the North Karnataka region. It is an important centre for the Indian Railways too, as it is the headquarters for South Western Railway Zone and the Hubli Railway division. The quadrilateral super highway runs through the city. Climatic conditions are of the tropical semi-Malnad region, with no extremes. Hubli is also an established educational centre.

Providence and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit have inscribed our history by their blessings. The apostolic zeal of the Sisters at Tumarikop mission inspired the then Bishop Ignatius Lobo, of Belgaum Diocese to contact Mother Ernestine to request the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation to take charge of Fatima Group of Institutions run by the Diocese of Belgaum at Hubli. Sr Letitia Fernandes, Sr Responsa D’Souza and Sr Anita Pereira arrived in June 1970 and Sr Eliza Pinto, Sr Joanina Patrao and Sr Laurine Cutinha joined them later.

Having witnessed the committed service of the Sisters at Fatima, Mr &Mrs George Sybil D’Mello, who were running the St Michael’s English Medium School (Class I-IX) in the neighborhood offered it to the Sisters for sale, as they were emigrating to Canada. The Sisters immediately negotiated the land as well as the school for a reasonable price and took possession of it in December 1970. Thus divine providence made available to us a permanent property to establish a regular convent as well as a school.

The mission was new and the personnel were scanty. Miss Marina Belshar (1971-72), was in charge for a year and later Sr Precilla Mascarenhas (1972-73), took charge of the administration of the School for one year. Subsequently Sr Olinda Sequeira(1973-74), who already had teaching experience in schools at Vorkady and Narampady was appointed full-fledged headmistress of the primary section.. Sr. Bernarda (1974-80), then took over and her efficiency gave a facelift to the School. Having already obtained permission from the Education Department, the Sisters could focus exclusively on the academic activities and could bring excellent results. Sisters led by Sr. Joanina went around from house to house to raise funds for the first floor of the old building.

The growing demand for admissions was positively responded by the headmistress Sr. Margaret D’Souza. With meticulous planning and supervision she successfully added four floors to the school building. The old building was demolished in the year 2011.

Golden Jubilee of St. Michael’s School was celebrated with great pomp and show on 12 th December 2013. The Dias was adorned with precious jewels of our school i.e. the past headmistresses and teachers who toiled day and night to put up this esteemed institution in the heart of Hubballi city. They were honored with a shawl and memento. It was a great moment in the journey of St. Michael’s School. The institution places on record the skilled leadership given by Marina Belsher (1971-72), Sr Precilla Mascarenhas (1972-73), Sr Olinda Sequeira (1973-74), Sr. Bernarda D’Souza (1974-80), Sr. Bibiana Noronha (1980-90), Sr. Irene Mathias (1990-98) and Sr. Margret D’Souza from the year 1998 onwards.

To keep up with the rapid progress in technology and to provide child friendly education, the Sisters are constantly and endlessly striving with the Ursuline Franciscan zeal.

Consequently the number of students seeking admission increased phenomenally. So also increased the need for a matching infrastructure. So the then Sisters led by Sr Joanina went around from house to house to raise funds for the first floor of the old building.

Within a few years St Michael’s became the talk of the town for its educational standards. People flocked there to admit their children in these institutions. Many had to return disappointed because the limited space and limited number of classrooms available could not accommodate all of them.

The growing demand for admissions was positively responded by the headmistress Sr Margaret D’Souza. With meticulous planning and supervision she successfully added four floors to the school building. The old building was demolished in the year 2011. She upgraded the infrastructure with spacious and airy classrooms, a cycle stand, an auditorium, CC Cameras, Digital boards, a computer lab with internet facility, a smart board with LCD projectors and inverter facility and an upgraded office in keeping with the ever changing technological progress and requirements of present day education. The atmosphere brought in good and dedicated staff, 1300 students from diverse cultures and religions from both economically rich and poor sections of people.

During the past 50 years 7035 students have passed out from this institution. This School has produced citizens who have gone on to become engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs and social service workers, not only serving the country but also making their mark on the world stage at large.

The institution places on record the skilled leadership given by Marina Belsher (1971-72), Sr Precilla Mascarenhas (1972-73), Sr Olinda Sequeira (1973-74), Sr Bernarda D’Souza (1974-80), Sr Bibiana Noronha (1980-90), Sr Irene Mathias (1990-98) and Sr Margret D’Souza from the year 1998 onwards.

DECEMBER 2024

During the season of advent our school organized a short visit to ‘ Snedan Sadan’ Mother Theresa home on 19^th Dec 2024 where in most of our students brought bed sheets and house wise clothes for the inmates. Conducted cultural programme with the love and fun filled atmosphere shared their feeling, rejoiced and danced and  cake was cut with full of happiness and distributed.

One for All, All for One. With this theme St Michael Higher Primary School Keshwapur, Hubballi hoisted the school annual day gathering on 13^th Dec Dec 2024 at 4pm in the school auditorium.

A sudden death of our beloved student P R Renisha studying in grade VII B created a shocking and sorrowful environment. With regard to this mournful event headmistress Sr Reena D’Souza along with the teachers of grade V to VII conducted a mournful prayer service. Rev. Fr Pramod, Fr Joseph.L and Fr Joseph Raj joined us in the prayer.

NOVEMBER 2024

Constitution Day was celebrated with respect and honour on 26th November 2024.

On 19th Nov’2024 ‘World Toilet Day’was organized. The students of std VI and VII watched a small video clippings about health and hygiene of using toilets in public places and at homes. Tr. Gangu Kadam gave the guidelines of the cleanliness of using the toilets in the school campus. The students were alert and acknowledged by the message.

A staff picnic was organized by the school management on 16^th November 2024 to Coorg. The trip offered teachers an opportunity to relax, bond, and rejuvenate in a refreshing environment.

Two of our teachers attended the Basic Counselling Skills Workshop from 10^th to 16^th November 2024 at Deepanjali, Mysore. The resource person, Sr Juliana Pinto and Sr Jenita, skillfully covered essential topics, equipping the teachers with counselling techniques that will benefit them in their professional journeys.

On 14th November 2024, Children’s Day was celebrated with enthusiasm. A meaningful prayer service was conducted by the teachers. The highlight of the event was a delightful play performed by teachers of grades I to IV, which thrilled the students and added joy to the celebration.

On the 1st of November, Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated with enthusiasm. The students conducted a meaningful prayer service, and the Headmistress, Sr. Reena D’Souza, hoisted the flag. Tr. Gangu Kadam enlightened the students about the renowned poets of Karnataka. Students performed speeches, dance and group songs.

OCTOBER 2024

30^th October Diwali Celebration was held. The students of std – IV conducted a small prayer service and gave the message of brightness of light over darkness. The students of std – VI depicted the entire story of Diwali through their dance & show cased the victory over evil.

On 28^th October of 2024 – Science Exhibition using clay modelling was organized   Students from 5^th -7^th  participated enthusiastically, creating models that illustrated topics from their science curriculum, including plant cells, animal structures, human organs, and the solar system. This event aimed to foster creativity and reinforce scientific concepts in a hands-on, interactive manner.

Be truthful Gentle and Fearless. ‘Based on these principles of Mahatma Gandhi the Father of our nation V to VII voluntarily did the cleaning of the school campus and the surrounding areas. Students of std – VI along with the in- charge teachers of ECO club conducted a meaningful prayer service The scouts & guide of our school paid their respect to the portrait of Gandhi & Lal Bahadur Shastriji .

JUNE 2024

On 28th June 2024 – Investiture Ceremony   “Leaders are not born they are made; leaders are the role models who inspire the followers and motivate them to lead the target of success. On this day the school Parliament was formed and the cabinet ministers took their oath promising and assuring in the smooth run of our school for the academic year 2024-25.

21st June 2024 – A. International Yoga Day  International Yoga Day . This year marks the 10th International day of Yoga, with the theme ‘Yoga for self and society’. On this occasion we had a short programme the Yoga Posture reflects harmony and peace for humanity which is the essence of yoga. Children and Teachers performed different Yogasanas and explained the importance.

 

18th June 2024 – Dengue Awareness  The Health and Family Welfare Department of Karnataka conducted a dengue awareness programme on 18th June 2024 in the School auditorium. Smt. Vijaya Kordur professor of K S Sharma ITI College Hubballi was appointed as cluster officer explained with the PPT the causes and how to protect ourselves. It was informative and benefit to all the students.

17th June 2024 – Father’s Day by UKG Father Day was celebrated on 17th June where children were told to prepare greeting cards and wish their Dad’s Happy Father’s Day. To bring the bonding of love and affection between the child and parents.

15th June 2024 – Elections “Voting is not only our right- it is our power”. School Parliament Election was held to elect the SPL & DSPL Md. Muzzamil was elected as School Pupil Leader and Shruthi C the Deputy School Pupil Leader.

8th June 2024 – KRCE Programme The Karnataka Regional Commission for Education conducted a seminar and training for all the Catholic School teachers of Hubballi & Dharwad. Nearly 200 teachers participated.

On 5th The Students of Std VI and VII showcased a street play at Arihant park creating awareness of the environment to the nearby localities. Headmistress Sr Reena D’Souza gave a talk on keeping the environment clean and also gave awareness to the students & the people around.

LKG was reopened on 5th of June a short programme was organized in the entrance of the School. Where in Headmistress welcomed the students with a prayer. Parents and students were guided with the rules and regulation of the school. Parents were happy clicking the child’s photo on the selfie station. A star pencil takeaway was given to each child as a welcome gift with a message ‘You are special and We are ready to Shine.’

MAY 2024

On  31st May School re-opened for Std I to VII in full swing. Teachers decorated their bulletin boards and the black board with drawings, inspiring thoughts & quotes.

On 29th May first staff meeting The first staff meeting for the academic year 2024-25 was held in our school and chaired by Sr Reena D’Souza our headmistress. New teachers were welcomed and introduced by the headmistress. The headmistress proudly announced the prize of UFES project ‘DEMOCRACY’ for the academic year 2023-24 our school won the 1^st prize. Sr. congratulated all the in charge teachers & the staff members for the efforts and hard work. Indeed it was a proud moment to all of us.

On 28th May  ‘Heart to Hearts’ was the theme for the Staff Enrichment Programme 2024-25 conducted by Fr. Pious D’Souza from Shimoga Diocese.

The Ursuline Franciscan Educational Society celebrated its ‘Diamond Jubilee’ on 9^th May 2024 at Assisi Central School, Auditorium , Bagambila Deralakatte, Mangalore. On this occasion Teacher Gangu Kadam was invited as the Guest of Honour and was also felicitated by the UFES for her long years of service.                                                                            

 FEBRUARY 2024

On 23^rd of Feb Annual prize distribution was held for the students of L.K.G and 1^st to 4^thStd and on 24th of Feb for students of Std 5^th to 7^th Acknowledging their achievement in various curricula and co-curricular competitions which were held throughout this academic year 2023 – 24.

Rev Sr Greta Sanjeevini the Provincial of Hubli visited our school on 22^nd Feb. The school along with Headmistress, Staff, and Support staff along with the students welcomed her with some amusing performance and also a brief information on activities conducted throughout this academic year.

New academic (2024 – 2025) interview for L.K.G was conducted from Feb 8^th to 13^th each child were presentable in their own way.

Rev Fr Francis D’Almadia, the secretary of KRCE {Karnataka Regional commission for Education} paid a friendly to our school, he was greeted and welcomed by our Headmistress.

On February 8^th the students from class 1^stsdt to 7^thstd had medical checkup in school campus by chitiguppi hospital doctor where in every child from 1^st to 7^th underwent physical and mental health check up.

On 01^st of Feb 2024 Handwriting competition was held for LKG and UKG where in children had to copy a poem on democracy given on the black board.

JANUARY 2024

On 26.01.24 the students of Std 4^th to 7^th along with the high school had Republic Day celebration.  The significance of this day was expressed by the students by their speech, marching and cultural programme.  Our Ex-student who is working as ISRO scientist was the chief guest, who encouraged the students to come up in their carrier by the efforts. On 27^th January 2024 classes 1^st to 3^rd had the celebration followed by cultural programme.

On 25^th of January On account of republic day our students of LKG were dressed in Indian traditional wear to show unity is strength. Every Indian believes that He/ She is in a democratic country and enjoy practicing his religion and culture with simplicity.

On 24^th of January 2024 Tell a tale with puppet competition was held for UKG where in children narrated a story using puppets. The topic highlighted was unity in diversity.

On 24^th of January 2024 Clay modeling competition was held for the students of LKG where in children made different sea creatures using soft clay.

On 20^th January 2024 the students came out with variety of dishes to show case their talents on cooking without fire.

On 12^th of January 2024 cluster resource person of Nagashettikoppa cluster Mrs. Rashmi gave a surprise visit to the classrooms of std V A & B to do the analysisin the preparation for the board exam.  The CRP asked questions to the students connected to the lessons and gave information of the board exam.

NOVEMBER 2023

Class picnic was held on Nov 29^th 2023. Children were taken to tolankere. Children enjoyed the day.

Our student Subramanya Kalal of std 1^st has passed away on 24^th October due to Dengue. Headmistress along with the staff visited the house and paid the last tribute. Our school has organized a condolence prayer service on 26^th October the family members and their parents were part  of this prayer.

 National Constitution Day And Inauguration Of Child Rights Club   Nov 25^th 2023: Constitution day was celebrated to commemorate the adoption of the constitution and also had inauguration of child rights club. The chief guests were Shri Ali Radkhan ( Advocate ) and Shri C.V. James kumar  ( Advocate) . The students performed an action song on preamble. On this day the significame of fundamental rights and child rights was emphasized. Recitation preamble was done by all.

Fruits and vegetables competition was held on Nov 22th 2023 children brought different types of fruits and vegetables presented beautifully.

On Nov 11^th children’s day was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm and led to commemorate birth anniversary of Pandit Jawahar Nehru. The teachers organized a meaningful prayer service followed by cultural programme which included skit, dance and so on various games were conducted class wise. Prize was given to the winners to the class games. Festival of lights diwali also was celebrated on the same day.

Children’s day celebration was held on Nov 11^th with cultural programe Various games were conducted for LKG and UKG and prizes were distributed by the H.M.

Science exhibtion was organized by the science club members to encourage and inculcate the scientific temper among the children. Which was held on November 6^th 2023. The students of Std 5^th to 7^th took active part. The students of Std 5^th exhibited the models, Std 6^th working models and Std 7^th with systematic diagrammatic representation using colours.

Karnataka Rajyostava was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The programme began with the prayer service led by the students. The history and significance of the day was highlighted. The students represented the tradition of different districts, with a spectacular dance performance, recited vachanas, dressed up in different characters of Karnataka freedom fighters. The event generated a sense of pride in the minds of the students for being past of a that is so rich and vibrant.

OCTOBER 2023

October 21^st .10.2023 : Sr Reena D’Souza attended the seminar on the theme Unity of all towards 2024 organized by the laity Commission of Belgaum Diocese. Rev Fr Jerald D’Souza SJ was the resource person. He enlightened everyone on various issue. Bishop Derek Fernandes addressed the gathering.

Gandhi Jayanthi And Lal bahader Shatri Jayanthi:  An inter-religious prayer service was conducted in the school on October 2^nd.  The students depicted the moral values of Mahatma Gandhiji’s life and Lal Bahader Shastri. For the occasion bulletin boards were decorated by students by drawing outline sketch of Mahatma Gandhi, his principles and quotations.

SEPTEMBER 2023

On eve of St Michael Feast Novena prayers were conducted from 19^thSep to 26^thsep each day the students prayed different intentional prayers. Various Competitions were held for the four groups Decorating Class Bulletin Boards i.e. Shakti, Shanti, Neeti and Jyoti to decorate the bulletin board as per the topics given from Std I Std VII as well as the Fatima Kindergarten children in which students took active participation. On 27.09.2023 prayer services, was organized by the students. Our Headmistress awarded the groups, students and the teachers. On 29.09.2023 our management offered thanksgiving mass on the occasion of the feast.  High School and Primary staff had a festal meal together.

On 15^th Sep 2023 on accord of International democracy By the initiative taken by the Karnataka government on 15^th September at 10’ O clock along with Headmistress, staff and the students recited the preamble of the constitution of India to promote and uphold the Principles of Democracy.

On 05.09.2023 our Headmistress Sr Reena D’Souza and the students from Std 1^st to VII acknowledged and appreciated the hard work, dedication and contribution of teachers. Various competitions were held for the teachers. On this occasion prayer service was organized by the students followed by various activities. Our Headmistress honored the teachers   by a gift as a token of love.

The students of STD 5^th to 7^th celebrated National Nutrition week in which students prepared variety of dishes without the fire. On this day an awareness was given on the importance of proper nutrition and its role in maintaining healthy life style.

AUGUST 2023

On 31^st  August  2023 Raksha Bandhan Celebration was held for the students of LKG and UKG where in the special bond between the sibling was brought out by tying the rakhis.

AEP classes were held for classes I to VII based on the topic allotted to the classes to enrich the students to develop their character and also contribute humanity towards the surrounding environment.

On 19.08.2023 an open house was held for the classes I to VII parents were made aware of the progress of the child in academics and co-scholastic activities.

On 15^th August there was a grand celebration of Independence Day. The chief guest for this occasion was Sr Josna Francis MC. On this day the students took part in March past, Speeches, Patriotic singing, dances and karates demonstration.  Motivational talk was given inorder to build the spirit of patriotism among the students.

Friendship day which is a special day that celebrates the bond of trust and affection between friends. The students of STD I to IV took active participation in preparing friendship bands and making of friendship cards.

JULY 2023

On 28^th of July 2023 Mr. Ranjith Jaruls software solutions private limited demonstrated to the teachers how to use the school management app never skip.

On 25^th July 2023 Kargil Vijay Divas was kept up. Kindergarten students paid the respect and honor to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for us on the border to give victory by lighting the lamp and offering flower palettes. The students of Std 1^st to 7^th were given belief highlights of the Kargil war.

On 22^nd of July the second monthly quiz was held with a intention to score marks for their team. Rangoli competitions were held in order to showcase the talents of design using dots on the floor.

On 08^th of July 2023 Vanamahotsava Celebration was held. Sr Linet D’Souza the correspondent of our school was the guest of honor along with our Headmistress Sr Reena D’Souza and Sr Helen D’ Souza graced the occasion. Plantation of sapling was done by house leader along with in charge teachers. Each class was given a sapling to be planted in a pot and were asked to care of it.

On 7^th of July 2023 the teachers explained the importance of trees and their benefits to the LKG and UKG. Children brought sapling and planted.

For the class of 5^th to 7^th Seed Sowing Activity was conducted Students brought the seeds and pots for the sowing of seeds where in the seeding activity was done and also took responsibility to take care of the seeding until they sprouted and learnt how the plants are useful to use.

On 6^th of July 2023 on the eve of the celebration of Vanamahotsava for the class 3rd and 5^th speech on medicinal plants competitions was held. It was done to give the awareness of the use of herbal medicine.

On July 01^st 2023 a meaningful Investiture Ceremony was held. The elected school pupil leader, deputy school pupil leader and ministers honored with their respective badges and sashes. Our Headmistress Sr Reena D’Souza encouraged them to put in honest effort for every endeavor and become an inspiration for others.

JUNE 2023

Quiz Competition: 

8^th June- International Yoga Day: The international Yoga day was celebrated by invoking God’s presence & lighting of lamp.  P.E instructor Godfrey Sir along with Hr Pry Students performed the Asananas. Whereas, our primary students made a human chain of yoga in the quadrangle.

June 5^th – 10^th Environment week: Each class were assigned to come up with environment projects like.

Std 1^st – 2^nd : Collage making on – “Save Trees”

Std 3^rd -4^th : Collage making on – ‘Pollution’

Std 5^th : Explaining about the place where we live on the earth- celebrating earth day.

Std 7^th : Students were encouraged to read books as well as they were enriched by the book displayed in our school library.

On 5^th of June Inaugural prayer service was held to count Gods mercies and his assistance throughout the new academic year 2023-24.

 

On 5^th of June   Inauguration of   LKG was done through the A formal welcome was given to the parents & kids of LKG. A small butterfly (takeaway) was given to each child as a welcome gift.

On 5^th of June A short programme on world environment day was conducted in the hall for the students of std V to VII giving awareness of our environment by the E-waste management spokesperson Mr. SMommaya Nayan

Environment Day – LKG Students:  On the environment day teachers explained and showed clipping as how to save and protect trees.

MAY 2023

On 31^st May the students entered the school full of energy. The teachers welcomed the students by displaying quotes and colourful drawings on the Black Board of each class.

On 27^th May 2023 staff enrichment programme was organised for the staff of both primary and high school. Fr. Prashant Saldanha the resource person of the day. The following points were highlighted

1. The term ‘TEACHER’ was explained in a creative manner.

2. Reality of oneself.

3. 3C’s for life & 4C’s for teachers were explained

APRIL 2023

On 5^th April 2023 a meaningful thanksgiving prayer was conducted by Sr Helen D’Souza and Sr Sunita Pinto in the chapel and the Evaluation of academic year was conducted by Sr Reena D’souza in the school meeting hall.

  MARCH 2023

Women’s Day 08^th March; Sir Godfrey, Sir Edwin and James conducted a meaningful prayer service. They honored every teacher with a rose and a gift as a token of their love.

4TH March: Farewell Programme : “Thanksgiving” was the theme for the farewell programme for the students of Std VII. The program began with a meaningful prayer service. Followed by cultural Programmer by this the students of std VI. Headmistress Sr Reena D’souza honored the students of Std VII with a memento.

FEBRUARY 2023

On 28 February 2023 prize distribution day was organized from LKG to class 7^th the prizes were given away by the chief guests of the day.

On 25 February 2023 a small awareness program on cancer was given for the students of std VI and VII by Belgaum Diocesan Social Service Society.

On 16th of February 2023 The staff picnic was arranged on 16^th February 2023 to Agadi Thota Tadas Hangal Road. It was a memorable day out.

On February 07^th, 8^th& 9^th 2023 the staff and students of STD V and III visited the Jain temple. The teachers and the religious persons explained about the culture and tradition of the Religion.

 

JANUARY 2023

26^th January 2023 – Republic Day:74^th Republic Day was celebrated by the primary and high school. Chief Guest of the day was Mr. Srinivas Kumbar army Ex-servicemen. Prayer service was conducted by the students of std 5^th followed by cultural program. The chief guest hoisted the flag and gave a short speech. He inspired the students to love and respect the defense forces and our motherland. The students of UKG along with students of Std 6^th and 7^th marched to the beat of school band. The chief guest along with the dignitaries accepted the general salute. It was spectacular watching the march past. Various cultural activities like patriotic dances, songs, pyramid, and speeches were presented by the students. The program concluded by distributing sweets to the students.

11^th January 2023 – Planetarium Show:“A new experience of space trip in your place”. Kripta Planetarium from Mangalore arranged a planetarium show on 11^th January 2023 for the students of LKG to Std 7^th. Planetarium show consisted educational content like solar system, back to moon, shapes of planets etc. according to age group. Students enjoyed watching the show.

10^th January 2023 -Visitation of President (UFES) and councilor General Rev Sr Lydia Serrao:A cordial welcome was given to Rev Sr Milly Fernandes and Sr Lydia. The program began with prayer dance followed by lighting of the lamp. Introducing and honoring the guests was done by Sr Jacintha Sequira and Sr Reena D’Souza. Cultural program was organized by the students of primary and high school. President Sr Milly Fernandes addressed the students about the five ethics of life; the students were inspired and motivated. The program concluded with school anthem. Thereafter staff meeting was held for the primary staff. Teachers spoke words of appreciation about Sr Reena D’Souza as how she shoulders her responsibilities towards the staff, students and for the betterment of the school. Senior teachers expressed the need of play ground to the school.

05^thJanuary 2023 – Movie on Bhagat Singh:“Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all others because you were born in it”. On 05^th Jan 2023 students of std 3^rd to 7^th watched the biopic of Bhagat Singh which inspired the students to love their motherland.

 

DECEMBER 2022

22^nd Dec 2022  National Mathematics Day: “Pure mathematics is in its way, the poetry of logical ideas” On 22.12.2022 National Mathematics day was celebrated. Tr Gangu Kadam highlighted about Shri Ramunja the great mathemation students prepared charts and displayed.

22^nd  Dec 2022 Christmas celebration: “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”. On the occasion of Christmas the in charge teachers conducted a meaningful prayer service, every Christmas symbol was highlighted. Cultural program by each class was performed.Headmistress Sr Reena D’Souza spoke about being happy and grateful for all that we have, class rooms were decorated. Std IV A and STD II A got first & second prizes respectively. The program concluded with national anthem cake distributed to all the students and staff.

Visit to St Vincent De Paul Home For Aged: “Respect your elders and the world will respect you”.  On 17.12.2022 Headmistress along with staff and students of std VII, V, II & I visited St Vincent De Paul Home For Aged. Our Headmistress in the welcome speech welcomed the President Mrs Pricilla, Sr Alphonsa and the inmates with roses. Students entertained the inmate through their dance performance. Cake cutting was done and cake was distributed to everyone. Sharing in the form of kind was given.

Visit to Sneha Sadan home for destitute  10^th  Dec 2022:  “Who are we as human beings. If we ignore the suffering of others” On 10.12.2022 Students of STD VII, VI, IV, & III along with headmistress and staff visited Sneha Sadan a home for the destitute run by Mother Thresa sisters. (Missionaries ofCharity) Sr. Reena D’souza the headmistress welcomed the inmates and the sisters. Students performed dance and brought smile on the faces of the inmates. Gift of sharing in kind was given. Cake cutting was done and cake was distributed to everyone.

30^th Nov 2022, 1^st& 2^nd Dec 2022:  Annual Gathering -Colures Of Bright future :

“Learning is there journey, let them navigate push them explore, watch them discover. Annual gathering was held with great pomp and show for the students of LKG to STD VII. The theme of the gathering was “Colours of Bright Future. All the three days we had president, chief guests and alumnus and alumna, as guests of honour. Based on the theme many programmers were conducted, students performed mime show, folk dance, parable, patriotic dance, Christmas tableau etc. Guests and parents witnessed this auspicious gathering after two years break due to Covid.

NOVEMBER 2022

26^th Nov ‘Constitutional Day’: Indian Constitution Day was observed on 26.11.2022. Tr Victoria briefly explained why we celebrate this day and its importance and the responsibility of each citizen towards their nation. Tr.Leena asked the students to repeat the preamble after her.

19^th Nov Department of school education and literacy: On 19.11.2022 department of school education and literacy had arranged various activities and competitions for the teachers. Many teachers participated. Teacher Gangu kadam won first place in pick and speak competition and she being is selected for district level. Teacher Saraswati and Tr. Suneeta Tadsad secured third place in drawing and in teaching learning materials. Headmistress and staff congratulated the teachers.

14^th Nov Children’s Day:“There are only two lasting gifts we should give our children. One is roots and second is wings.” Children’s day was celebrated with great pomp and show. Students of LKG and UKG celebrated children’s day in the class . Meaningful prayer service was conducted by the teachers followed by entertainment program. Headmistress addressed the students prizes were give to the winners of class games. The program concluded by distributing of sweets to the students and some refreshment for the staff.

 

 

11th  Nov Kanakadas Jayanthi, Onake Ohavva Maulana  Ahdul Kalam: A small prayer service was conducted to mark the occasion Kanakadas is one of the important Dasas in Karnataka. He is from Haveri district bada taluk , he wrote many hymns and also sung them.

•  Veera Rani Onake Obavva Jayanthi was celebrated , she in known for her valour and a woman who killed the soldiers of hyderali with the wooden pestle .Teacher Kadam briefly explained the story of Obavva to the students.
• On the same day Dr. Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad jayanthi was celebrated , Sir Maulana Abdul Kalam was an educationist , He was the first education minister of independent India and established many universities . During his tenure as education minister he brought the policy compulsory education for students and also for women.

 

4^th Nov Recitation competition (LKG): “Poetry comes alive to me through recitation.”    The recitation competition was held on the 4^th of November where in children participated actively and recited the rhymes and the judges were very happy listening to the tiny tots.

4^th Nov Dental Check up:“Smile it lets your teeth breathe” On 04.11.2022 a dental check up was organized for the students from LKG to STD 7^th by the dentist of  KDC  multispecialty dental clinic Hubballi.

3^rd Nov Science and social science exhibition:“Science is the process that takes us from confusion to understanding”  Science and social science exhibition was conducted for the students of Std 5^th to 7^th by the in charge teachers  Ms Jennifer Tr and Mrs. Mary Theresa tr. Many students participated enthusiastically and exhibited the working models. Sir Edwin and Antonita Tr were the judges of the day.

 Karnataka Rajyotsava: (1^st – 7^th) : Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated with great pomp and show in the true Karnataka traditional style. A meaningful prayer service was organized students dressed like national leader, Basavana , Akkamahadevi etc to make the occasion. Our headmistress Sr Reena  D’souza spoke to the student about the rich heritage and culture of our state .The program was concluded by singing Naada Geethe.

Sports: Sport conducted by the Educational department. “Talent wins games by team work and intelligence wins championship.”Our students have won a number of cups, medals and certificates at the group, taluk and district level sports meet. Many of our students participated in different games. The following are the winners.

A Special mention has to be made of the winners of Cluster level sports.

• 1^st place in chess was won by Judith Deodhar of std 7

• 1^st place in Shuttle badminton was won by the both Boys and Girls.

• 2^nd place in relay 4x100mts was won by Girls.

• 3^rd place in 400 mts running was bagged by Md. Sulaiman of std 7th.

Taluk level sports:

• 1^st place in Karate was won by Sufiyan Morab of std 7^th

• 1^st place in Shuttle badminton was won by both Boys and Girls.

• Zoheb of std VI was the winner in cricket in taluk level, district level and participated in division level.

District Level sports:

• Girls were runners up in basket ball.

• Girls were winners in Shuttle Badminton.

• Boys were the runners up in Net ball.

Division level sports :

• Girls were the winners both in Basket ball and Shuttle Badminton.

State level:

• Felicia of std VII has participated in the state level Shuttle badminton.

• 6 boys participated in the state level netball.

• Kirti Palekar and Leona Swarna of std VII are selected for state level Basket Ball.

  

OCTOBER 2022

29^th Oct 2022 Deepavali ( I to Vll Std ):The festival of lights deepavali was celebrated on 29^th oct 2022. In charge teaches along with students and staff organized meaningful prayer service, followed by cultural program. Our headmistress Sr Reena D’Souza delivered a meaningful message to the students .The programme concluded with vote of thanks.

28^th Deepavali celebration (LKG & UKG) :“The greatness of a culture can be found in its festivals.” Prayer service was held on the occasion of Diwali on 28^th Oct where in lot of diyas were lit along with beautiful rangloies.

22^nd Oct Open Day: Everyday is a chance to begin again . Don’t focus on the failures of yesterday, Start today with positive thoughts and expectations.  Open day was held after the  summative assessment I from LKG to Std Vll . Parents were called to check the answer papers and result of their child. Suggestion book was kept where in the parents wrote their opinion about the teacher , Headmistress and the school.

17^th and 18^th Oct :Training on Adolescent Empowerment Program: On 17^th Oct and 18^th Oct two days training on adolescent empowerment program was conducted to the staff of St. Michael Hr Pry and High School, Keshwapur and St Michael school Shantinagar , Hubballi. The training began with prayer by the staff of St Michael  high school keshwapur hubballi  Sr Dimple D’Souza, Sr Veronica and Sr Jacintha Sequeira were the resource persons. Sr Dimple D’souza briefly explained about the program and AEP is a formative support for our children motivational videos were displayed as to how to motivate the students. Sr Veronica highlighted the 14 topics on sensitization. Sr Jacintha Sequeira spoke about life skills.  2^nd day opening prayer was conducted by the staff of St Michael Hr Pry School Keshwapur Hubballi. The presentation of demo were done by 3 groups. Sr Dimple D’souza gave the feed back.Vote of thanks was given by staff of St. Michael School Shantinagar .

15^th Oct :Hand Wash Day:Use your hands to make some bubbles to kill the troubles…Global hand washing day was observed in the school. Tr Kadam spoke on the importance washing the hands and keep them healthy and hygiene.

02^nd Oct 2022 Gandhi Jayanthi :“Be the change that you want to see in the world” On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi a meaningful prayer service was conducted by the in charge teachers along with students. Our headmistress Sr. Reena D’Souza addressed the students.

SEPTEMBER 2022

29^th Sept 2022: St Michael Feast: “ Every step of our life, should bring us closer to God.” The feast of our Patron, St Michael the archangels was celebrated with a meaningful prayer service & a short cultural programme was conducted by the incharge teachers Sr. Sunitha Pinto, Tr Mary Theresa, Tr. Asha and Tr. Sunita Bandi along with the students. Our Headmistress Sr. Reena D’Souza , Sr. Sunita Pinto, Sr. Helen, Godfray Sir, Sagaimary, James, Prisley from LKG, Spoorthi Punith (School pupil leader) marched forward with the lamp. Class representatives from LKG to std 7^th & teachers offered flowers.  Our Headmistress in her inspiring speech highlighted the importance and functions of the Archangels. The program concluded by singing the School Anthem.

 

19^th Sept 22: Novena to St.Michael: Novena to St Michael began from 19^th Sept 22 to 28^th Sept 22. Novena prayers were offered class wise by the students from LKG to std 7^th . All the staff involved themselves in making the novena days more meaningful and joyful.

10^th Sept 22 : Teachers Day Celebration: “Teachers are the keystone of our future.” On the occasion of “Teachers’ day celebration” meaningful prayer service was conducted by the students concluding with wishing song. Our Headmistress Sr. Reena D’Souza honoured the teachers with a appreciation certificate, sapling and with a token of love. She then addressed the students with our inspiring and motivating words SPL Spoorthi Punith delivered a word of gratitude to all the teachers. Prizes were given to the winners.

7^th Sept 22: Obituary: On the sad demise of our student Suraksha Kalal of std II, a prayer service was   offered in the hall along with students. Headmistress Sr. Reena D’Souza garland the portrait,   students and staff offered flowers. Our Headmistress Sr. Reena D’Souza along with the staff visited the house and offered their condolences.

6^th Sept -National Nutrition Day: National Nutrition day was celebrated on the 6^th of Sept. The importance of Nutrition was explained to the children as the theme for this year was “celebrate a world of flavours” which encouraged the parents to pack their Child’s tiffin box, where in children brought sprouts , raw vegetables, fruits and dry fruits , for tiffin.  Along with Nutrition Day Teacher’s Day was celebrated in a simple manner by garlanding the Portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. And we stood by the slogan. “The new tradition is Good Nutrition.”

30^th August 22 to 3^rd Sept 22 : Nativity of Mother Mary: The  Catholic students along with Headmistress Sr. Reena D’Souza and staff offered Novena prayer to our Mother Mary on 30^th Aug 2022 and 03^rd Sept 22 at St Joseph’s Church, Keshwapur Hubballi.

2^nd Sept : Taluk level winners: Samuel of Std IV got second place in action song. Keerthana Thalapati of std V got third place in singing devotional song.

02^nd Sept 2022: Prathibha Karanji was organized by the education department. Students from 3^rd to std 7^th

1^st sept 2022 : To mark the occasion of Teachers day various competitions and games were held for teachers on 1^st Sept 2022 and 3^rd Sept 22. All the teachers actively participated in the competitions.

AUGUST 2022 

  25.08.2022 and 26.08.2022:  Trainers Training on adolescent empowerment programme:  Two day seminar was organized for Headmistress and facilitators of Hubli province at st. Michael provincilate Shantinagar Hubli. The resource person for the seminar were Rev Sr Dulcine Crasta , Rev. Sr Milagrin D’Souza and Rev Sr Dimple D’Souza. They highlighted the UFES project of Adolescence empowerment and the same to be implemented in the schools. The seminar was concluded with vote of thanks. 

15.8.2022: Independence Day was celebrated by both primary and high school. Sr Gretta Sanjeevni the provincial of Hubli Province was the chief guest of the day. Judith of std VII gave speech where as students of std IV performed patriotic dance .Sr Gretta addressed the gathering.

12^th August 2022: School visit by Secretary – UFES Rev Sr. Philomina Noranha. A warm welcome was given to Rev. Sr. Philomina Noronha by taking the Aarthi , our tiny tots escorted the  Sister followed by lighting of the lamp, prayer , prayer dance and welcome song. Our Headmistress introduced Rev.Sr. Philomina Noronha and honoured her with shawl, sapling etc. Rev Sister addressed the students and staff. Staff meeting was arranged where Sister Spoke about the motto of the UFES and the school . She briefly spoke about the rules and regulations of UFES. She appreciated and encouraged the teachers for fulfilling the duties.

 

 

11^th August 2022: on the eve of 75^th Independence day students of std 5^th to 7^th prepared wall hanging by using the tricolours, students of 3^rd and 4^th had fancy dress competition [ national leader]. Students of std 1^st and 2^nd to draw and colour the national flag.

AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV: LKG & UKG – On the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava the children had fancy dress competition where in children were asked to dress themselves as ‘National leaders or freedom fighters. This competition was very creative & colourful as it helped the children to face a large audience & helped them to overcome stage fear & the dialog delivery of the little ones was excellent.

1^st – 7^th std – On the occasion of Azadi Ki Amrit Mahotsav various competitions were conducted for the students of std 1^st to 7^th like speech, essay , solo singing of patriotic  song fancy dress etc. winners were awarded with the certificate.

8^th August 2022 – Friendship day: The students of std III celebrated friendship day by preparing greeting cards and exchanged it with their friends.

8^th August 2022 : Yellow colour day: “ Colours are the smiles of Nature”. Yellow day activity was done on the 8^th August, where in children came to school in different shades of yellow children were asked to bring any yellow colour dish / eatery for tiffin : Eg: Poha , Banana, lemon rice etc. The importance of friendship was told to them & teachers tied hands with paper flower cutouts on the hands & pined them to the hair for girls. The activity ended with yellow day combined with friendship day.

1^st August 2022 –  Rainy Day :   Rainy day was celebrated on the 1^st of August where children brought umbrellas and wore their raincoats. The importance of rain, uses of water was told to them in short & how important it is to cover themselves during rainy season. Classrooms were decorated with umbrellas.

JULY 2022

 

“Connecting home and school makes us a great community of learness.” Parent teacher meet was conducted on 27.07.22 and 28.07.22 for the parents from LKG, UKG , Std I and Std VII. The resource person was Rev.Fr Joyson Vas S J counseling Therapist, Vidhyaniketan Dharwad. The topic of the meet was parenting in 21^st century Rev Fr. Joyson addressed the gathering. Sr Jacintha Sequira , deputy education secretary of Hubli province highlighted the importance of parents role in a child’s life. Our headmistress Sr.Reena D’Souza highlighted the rules and regulations of the school. Students performed prayer dance and skit on the theme secularism.

26^th July 2022 – Kargil Vijaya Divas: Kargil Vijaya Divas was celebrated where in children came dressed in military dress and the song  “ Nanna Munna rahin hoon” was played and the importance of the day was explained in the short.

18^th July 2022 – Formative Assessment -1:   Formative assessment -1 was conducted for students from LKG to std VII. FA -1 was conducted shift wise.

11^th July 2022:World Population Day : World Population Day was celebrated on 11-07-2022 to bring the awareness among the students.  A documentary was shown for the students of std 3^rd and 4^th  various competitions like:

Where they highlighted the effects of over population and  its consequences.

 

5^th July 2022 – Vanamahotsava :  On the occasion of Vanamahotsava many activities were conducted for the students of Std I to VII. Incharge teachers for the programme were Tr. Liliyana and Tr. Jennifer.

 Std 1^st and 2^nd – Collage competition importance of trees.

 Std 3^rd and 4^th – making nests for the birds.

Std 5^th        – Recitation on plants.

Std 6^th and 7^th – Planting the saplings importance of oxygen.

Headmistress addressed the students highlighting the importance of the 3R’s Reduce, Re – use and Recycle and illustrated with examples.  Ex: Use of ink pen, milk packets, etc in past days. The programme concluded with Vote of thanks.

4^th July 2022 – Father’s Day: “To the world, you are a Dad , but to me, you are the world.” Fathers Day was celebrated where in the children of UKG & LKG made greeting cards to wish their Father’s and classwise videos were put in the class whatsapp groups.

JUNE 2022

29^th June 2022 : Investiture Ceremony: “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.” Investiture ceremony was celebrated with great pomp and show. The program began with lighting of the lamp followed by prayer service by the students of Std VII.  Headmistress Sr. Reena D’Souza , Sr. Sunita Pinto & Sr. Helen assemblage the sash and badge to the elected members. Student pupil leader – Spoorthi Punith also spoke few words on this occasion. Deputy School pupil leader- Shlok Hiremath concluded the program with words of gratitude.

25^th June 2022 : UFES PROJECT SECULARISM: “ The fact remains that secularism is inherent in the Indian System, in the Indian ethos and culture. India cannot but be secular. On 25-06-2022 a club was formed by Headmistress Sr. Reena D’Souza along with incharge teachers to implement and executive various activities. Rev. Fr Joseph Lopez the parish priest of St Joseph church keshwapur & Dean of Hubli Dharwad was the resouce peron for the programme.

21^st June 2022 : INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY (UKG) “ Inhale the future , exhale the past.” The tiny tots performed different yogasanas. On 21^st of  June International Yoga Day as the saying just went right “make yourself so happy so that when others look at you they become happy too.

 

  21^st June 2022 : 8^th International Yoga Day & pick and speak competition.  On the occasion of 8^th International Yoga day Mr. Santosh Chalvadi a social worker was invited as the chief guest. Teacher Victoria introduced and welcomed the guest and Headmistress Sr. Reena D’Souza welcomed the guest with a bouquet.   Mr. Santosh addressed the students and encouraged them to do Yoga every day. Pick and speak competition was held for students of std V, VI & VII. P.E teachers Godfrey Sir and Leediya Tr along with the students performed Yogasanas.

18^th June 2022: Quality Classroom: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” An input session was organized for the staff on 18^th June 2022(Saturday). The resource person Mr.Rohit spoke on quality classroom. He also suggested the teachers to teach students to think conceptually and to except new and different methods for self assessment of teachers.

13^th June 2022 : Craft on paper cutting: “ Art is something that makes you breathe with a different kind of happiness.” Mr. Jay Lal Rao from Rajasthan Surat visited our school on 13.06.22. He showed how to prepare many artificial items like, rose, garland, basket etc through paper cutting.

10^th June 2022 : Staff Enrichment Program: On 10^th June 2022 staff enrichment program was organized for the staffs of both primary and high school. Introduction and general welcome was done by Tr. Liliyana. Prayer service began with the prayer dance by the students of Std VI and VII followed by prayer by Tr. Mary Theresa. Our Headmistress Sr Reena D’Souza welcomed and introduces the resource person of the day Fr. Rohan  D’Almeida SJ. Fr Rohan dealt with the major 8 principles of NEP -2020. The session was concluded with words of gratitude by Sr. Blessy.

06^th June 2022 : Environment Day:“The only way forward, if we are going to improve the quality of the environment is to get everybody involved.” To embark the occasion Headmistress, staffs and students of Std VI and VII took a procession / rally to nearby surrounding areas with slogans on the placards to bring awareness in protecting our environment.

01^st June 22 : Workshop on Yoga: “Yoga adds years to your life, and life to your years.” Be Healthy! Be Active!! Be Fit!!! Through power yoga.  A workshop on yoga conducted for the students of std VI and VII by ozone yoga and Holistic Healing Center the resource person of the day was Mr. Santosh.  Mr. Santosh performed different Yogas and Aasanas and also explained the importance of it. He also stated that prevention is better than medicine.    Students enthusiastically participated and performed the mudras and aasanas taught. Tr. Kadam concludes with words of appreciation and gratitude.

01^st June 2022: Re-opening Day (LKG) : “ Small cheer & great welcome makes a merry feast. Put your best foot forward this year little ones.” The tiny tots were given a warm welcome by showering rose petals by the school parliament leaders along with the Headmistress & the staff. The class teachers gave smiley cutouts & welcomed them.

 

MAY 2022

28^th May : Academic Prayer Service: “ A day without prayer is a day without blessings, and a life without prayer is a life without power.” Inaugural prayer service of the academic year was organized for the students from std  IV to VII. Meaningful prayer service was conducted by the staff. The theme was “May God be the fullness of our life”. Lighting of lamp was done by headmistress Sr Reena D’Souza, superior of Fatima convent Sr Sunita Pinto , class teachers of std VII Tr Kadam and Tr. Victoria, newly appointed staffs – Sr. Helen D’Souza , Mrs. Sunita Gona and Mrs. Mary Gokavi, students Spoorthi Punith and Shlok Hiremath. Headmistress addressed the students with a meaningful message based on the theme. She then highlighted few important points on secularism. She also advised the students about punctual, discipline and uniformity. Headmistress welcomed the new staff with saplings as a token of our love.

27^th May: Save soil let us make it happen: On 27-05-22 at 10:30am a “Short session on save soil initiative was conducted for the students of std V to VII by Isha Foundation, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Tr.Leena welcomed the resource person Mr.Akshay Kumar. The team highlighted the importance of how to restore healthy soil, they then showed few clippings and educated the students through video how to protect the soil and its nutrients. The team took an undertaking from the students to send it honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modiji. The session was concluded with a word of gratitude by Tr. Jennifer.

16^th May : First staff meeting: The first staff meeting was held in the school library and chaired by our  headmistress Sr. Reena D’Souza in order to discuss  and plan out the activities for the year 2022-23 duties for the academic year was given for the respective incharge teachers. Our headmistress welcomed Sr. Helen D’Souza with a bouquet. The meeting was ended up with refreshment.

14^th May : ‘Re – Opening’ :School re- opened only for the staff. A meaningful prayer service was conducted in the chapel for the farewell of Sr. Lolita Monis. The headmistress Sr. Reena D’Souza spoke few words of appreciation. A bouquet and memento was given as a token of our love and gratitude. The event ended up with refreshment.

APRIL 2022

18^th April 2022: Birthday Celebration of Headmistress:  “You are a miracle of God” was the theme of the birthday prayer service of Sr. Reena D’Souza conducted by Sr Sunitha Pinto and the staff. It was creative, meaningful and prayerful. A lamp of spirituality, faith, hope was life by Sr. Reena D’souza. Later the good qualities of sister were depicted on a leaf and were stuck in the basket of flowers which was presented to her as a token of love.

Tr. Gangu Kadam on behalf of the staff appreciated Sr. Reena in her speech. Teacher cracked few jokes and made every one burst into laughter. A song sung by James was appreciated by all. Sr. Reena thanked everyone for organizing the birthday celebration beautifully. Celebration ended with the delicious meal.

12^th April 2022 : ‘A Year Ending thanks giving Prayer’:  A meaningful thanksgiving Prayer was conducted by Tr Leena in the chapel of Fatima Convent .With a attitude of gratitude for the whole year praised God for his benevolence and prayed for various intentions. After which Sr. Reena the Headmistress conducted the evaluation of the academic year. It was systematic and helped everyone to share our views.

DECEMBER 2021

23^rd Dec – Christmas Celebration (Std V to VIII): A melodious carol singing competition was conducted by the incharge teachers, Tr Leena & Tr Shruthi to the students of std V to VII. The same prayer service and the cultural programme was repeated and our dear headmistress delivered a beautiful message of ‘LOVE’ and later distributed the prizes for the winners of carol singing competition. std V B won the Ist prize and std V A won the 2^nd prize. Sweets were also distributed. Later the staff too gathered for  Christmas get together exchanged gifts and shared Christmas wishes and concluded with snacks.

22^nd Dec – Christmas Celebration (Std I to IV): On the occasion of Christmas the incharge teachers, Tr.Leena & Tr Shruthi conducted the star and Christmas tree decoration competition. A very meaningful prayer service was conducted followed by the cultural programme by the each class. Later prizes for the competition were distributed.

20^th Dec – Christmas Celebration (Fatima Kindergarten): On the eve of Christmas the tiny tots of LKG & UKG had a small Christmas programme with dances, carols & games . All were in colour dress. Later prize distribution was also held for various competition conducted through out the academic year 2021 -22. Sweets and gifts were also distributed by our Headmistress Sr.Reena D’Souza.

18^th Dec – Civil Visit: The police Inspector from our local police station at keshwapur gave a visit to our School. He explained about the helpline all over the world and gave the awareness to all the students. He also spoke about the safety measures and gave the new dial number 112 to all our students and explained the use and importance of the number.

NOVEMBER 2021

26^th Nov- Samvidhan Diwas – Indian Constitution Day: Indian Constitution day was observed and small program was organized by the social science Trs. Two videos clippings were shown to the students highlighting the importance of the day. Our Headmistress Sr.Reena D’Souza gave an informative speech about the four pillars of our nation ie; justice , liberty, equality and fraternity. She also reminds the students about the responsibility and their national duty to uphold the laws given by our constitution.

16^th Nov – ‘Meeting the Corporator’:  An urgent need was required to repair the roads in front of the School. Tr Kadam along with the staff and parents approached Mrs. Shruthi Chalwadi the Corporator of Hubli, Dharwad and submitted a memorandum requesting to repair the road as early as possible.

15^th Nov – Childrens’ Day Celevration: “Every child is a different kind of flower and they are beautiful in their way.’ You Are Precious And Special’ with this theme Our Headmistress Sr.Reena D’Souza along with the teachers welcomed the Children with the Aarthi, Prayer service was conducted by all the teachers and staff followed by short entertainment programme by the teachers. To mark this occasion interclass games were conducted and the winners were given prizes. At the end enclosed with some refreshments for teachers and sweets for the students.

10^th Nov – ‘Investiture Ceremony’: The ceremony conducted by the teachers of Std VI & VII. The president of the cabinet Sr.Reena D’Souza had discussion with the elected students. She then honoured the students with the sashes and badges. The elected students took oath led by the president Sr.Reena D’Souza. Later the president delivered very motivating speech by highlighting the characteristics of the word LEAD and the values of 7 C’s.

8^th Nov – School Re-opened for Kindergarten: By hook or by crook the classes for LKG & UKG were re-opened. The teachers welcomed the tiny tots with colourful balloons, music , dances and games for their entertainment. Our headmistress Sr.Reena D’Souza distributed sweets to all the little ones.

06^th Nov – Diwali Celebration: ‘A festival of lights, light that chase the darkness’ To mark the celebration of Diwali, A small prayer service was conducted by our Headmistress Sr.Reena D’Souza, Sr.Lolita & Sr.Sunitha Pinto in the chapel. All the teachers and staff participated with lighted candles and placed it on the altar with great devotion. A meaningful passage from the holy bible was read Sr.Sunitha with the reflection at the end photo session was held with the lited candles.

1^st Nov – Karnataka Rajyotsava: It was a 66^th Rajyotsava celebration which began with Aarathi and Kumbha as a swagatha to our Headmistress Sr.Reena D’Souza followed by prayer service dance, speeches & prize distribution and few students dressed with the attire of different freedom fighter of our state. The programme was a remarkable one.

OCTOBER 2021

2^nd October – Gandhi Jayanthi  ‘Work Together to Make A Stronger India’On this occasion a very meaningful prayer service was conducted by the incharge teachers Tr. Sunitha & Tr.Leediya. Soon after the prayers our Headmistress Sr.Reena D’Souza delivered her valuable speech on ‘Saach Bharath and Swacha Bharath.’ She emphasized to be clean from inside first then cleaning outside becomes easier. Later Sister added saying to imitate Mahatma Gandhiji and try to be Mahatmas and become Vishwaguru. And thus the programme ended up with the National Anthem & with some refreshments. Thereafter we had Shramadhana. All the teachers joined together to arrange for the distribution of Govt text books.

25^th October – Welcome back‘The great aim of education is not knowledge but action.’ The School reopened after 18 months for the students of STD I to V. The students of all classes were sorted according to their roll numbers into batches and attended the classes alternatively days for a week (25^th Oct to 30^th Oct). All the teachers welcomed their class students with a smile and with the words of welcome.

SEPTEMBER 2021

1^st Sept – On the occasion of teachers’ day, Traditional Day was observed by all. The teaching and non teaching staff actively participated in the traditional wear competition. Sr Reena D’Souza & Tr.Sushma from the high School were the judges of the event.

11^th Sept – Teachers Day Celebration“ ‘You are God’s chosen gift’ was the theme for this year’s teachers’ Day celebration. we had a prayer service lead by all teachers. All the teaching and non teaching staff had a entertainment programme, games & cultural activities. The students from LKG to 4^th std prepared a greeting card, words of gratitude towards teacher was spoken by 4^th std students, dances by the 6^th std and a wishing songs by the 7^th std. All these programmes were recorded, animated and visualized on the screen by the technical committee. Later, Sr Reena D’Souza conducted a small party game for all the teachers and ended up with a delicious food. The prizes of the competitions conducted   were announced and given. With great gratitude Sr.Reena D’Souza honoured all the teaching & non teaching staff with a token of love.

13^th Sept – ‘Welcome back to School’ To mark the beginning of academic year prayer service was organized for students of Std VI and VII. The lighting of lamp was done by Sr.Reena D’Souza the HM, Sr.Sunita Pinto the superior of Fatima convent, Tr.Antonita, students Arushitha and sujay. A meaningful prayer service was conducted by the staff and invoked God’s blessings on each and every student of the Michaelean family. A short message & instruction were given to the students by the Headmistress.

18^th Sept – Webinar A webinar was conducted by the Hubballi Province on ‘NEP’ .Rev Fr Jerald D’Souza S J was a resource person who briefed out the guidelines and importance of NEP.

20th Sept – St. Michael Week On the occasion of St.Michael feast The Novena was conducted for 9 days, the   various competitions to all the students of I to VII were held, teachers & students took active part in the events during St. Michaels week.

29^th Sept – St Michael A Powerful Protector ‘School Feast’ ‘Everyday is a good day, there is something to learn, care and celebrate, everything in this creation is a sign of celebration.’ We as one Michaelean family celebrated the feast of the Archangel St.Michael the patron saint of our School by conducting a very meaningful prayer service with the help of the incharge teachers Sr Sunitha Pinto and Tr.Antonita. During the prayer service the lamp of hope was lite by the Headmistress Sr.Reena D’Souza , Sr .Lolita, Tr.Kadam , Tr.Angela , Godfrey Sir and the students Miss.Pooja & master Md.Zaid of Std VII. And thereafter all the teaching and non teaching staff along with the students stretched out the right hand over the lited lamp and professed the words of promise and guidance. Soon after the prayer service our Headmistress Sr.Reena D’Souza gave an inspirational talk how to become a good captain in life, and briefed us about the three C’s that is caring, courageous and consistency. All the students were moved by her talk and promised to follow the 3C’s in life in order to become a good captain. And thus 28^th Sept 21 ended up by singing the school anthem. On the feast day 29^th Sept 21 all the teaching & non teaching staff along with the high school staff celebrated the holy Eucharist in the Fatima Convent, Keshwapur Hubballi. Rev Fr Prashant Pinto the Asst Parish Priest of St.Joseph Church, Keshwapur. Hubballi broke the word of God and enlightened about the Archangels. St. Raphael , St. Michael & St Gabriel with the message to all of us, not to be proud and jealous in life. After the final blessings we wished each other, clicked group photos and had a delicious meal.

AUGUST 2021

21^st August -“ National Brotherhood Day”: National Brotherhood Day was in the School. Though we belong to different caste, religion or creed, we all join hands together and stand united.On this day all the teaching and non teaching staff along with the headmistress Sr.Reena D’Souza took a oath by repeating the words said by Tr.Kadam in kannada.

15^th August : 75^th Indian Independence Day.A meaningful prayer service was conducted by primary teachers. Programme started by garlanding the portrait and flag hoisting by the chief guest. Sr. Sunitha Fernandes the Provincial Superior of Hubballi Province, National Anthem was sung. Various competitions were conducted online class wise.“Do ordinary things with extraordinary love.” Says Mother Teresa. We had small cultural programme by the students and teachers.  Patriotic song was sung by student of Std V, Dance by high School students, speech by Pry and high School students, and performance by primary teachers. Later, the programme concluded with the speech by the provincial Rev Sr. Sunita Fernandes and then ended up with a group photos. The technical committee made a video of the entire programme and uploaded it in the whatsapp class groups.

JULY 2021

31^st July – Webinar Programme:“ Unity is strength….where there is team work and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.”The Webinar was organized by the Hubballi Province for all the Schools staff of   Hubli Province. Dr.Jonas Richard was the guest speaker for the theme social commitment. The session was about the current scenario, changing the role of educators, the fear of future etc. The staff of our School joined the session through Zoom app, and learnt on how to face new challenges in AC (After corona).

The second session was by Mrs. Manju Anand , the advocate on How to protect the child from sexual offence, How to file a complaint, How to interact with the child and the parents etc. The POSCO act was explained chapter wise through PPT. Both the session were interesting and meaningful.

10^th July – ‘Vanamahotsav’: The annual tree planting festival was celebrated in the School, Sr. Gretta Sanjeevini D’Souza the correspondent of St.Michael Hr Pry School was the chief guest. Planting of saplings was done by the guests, teachers and supporting staff followed by the speeches by headmistress, correspondent and Teacher Kadam as well. The event ended up with refreshment.

7^th July – ‘First Staff Meeting’: The first staff meeting was held in the School, was chaired by our new Headmistress Sr.Reena D’Souza. We discussed and planned out the activities for the month and the days to come.

JUNE 2021

30^th June -‘ Welcoming the New Principal’: Sr. Reena D’Souza the new headmistress of St.Michael Hr Pry School, Keshwapur. Hubballi was welcomed by the old headmistress Sr.Margaret D’Souza and all the staff members.Sr. Great Sanjeevini D’Souza the new correspondent of St.Michael Hr Pry School, Keshwapur Hubballi was welcomed and honoured by the School Staff. A bouquet of flowers was offered as a token of Love. The official keys were handed over to the new headmistress by the old headmistress to take the charge. A short programme was organized by the staff.

 

29^th June – Superannuation of Sr. Margaret D’souza:  A meaningful prayer service was conducted by Sr. Sunitha Pinto, Sr.Lolita and the teachers all prayed for her mission and asked God to bless her with good health.Rev. Sr. Jacintha Sequeira the Deputy Secretary, Sr. Luicella Coehlo the correspondent and Sr.Elize the acting Principal of St.Michael High School were the guest of honour for the event. Tr Liliyanna & Tr.Jennifer along with other teachers gave a meaningful short and memorable programme. Sr.Margaret was appreciated, felicitated and honoured for all the works that she has done and for the person she was and is.

28^th June – Thanksgiving Prayer – “My Grace Is Sufficient For You.”A thanksgiving mass was celebrated in honuor of Sr.Margaret D’Souza in the convent chapel Rev. Fr Joseph Lopez the parish priest of St.Joseph Church Keshwapur was the main celebrant. Sr. Margaret proposed her gratitude towards the staff and her companions of the School and the convent. It was a heart touching and a sorrowful moment for all of us.

23^rd June – Open DayOpen Day was held according to the class -wise to give away the results and to collect the old Govt text   books for next class. Only Parents were called students were not allowed because of COVID – 19

15^th June – Re – opening School re- opened only for teachers. A zoom meeting was conducted by the department. Shree Karikatti (BEO) addressed the meeting, with the agenda of the activities for the academic year 2021 -2022. Teacher Kadam attended the meeting

27^th Feb : Felicitation Programme The Belgaum dioceses board of education and social welfare had arranged a felicitation programme in honouring SHRI BASAVARAJ HORATTI as he was elected as a speaker of Karnataka legislative council, Bengaluru. Our Headmistress Sr. Margaret D’souza along with the staff members honoured the speaker with the sapling at Fatima high School, Keshwapur, Hubballi.

26^th Jan : Republic day It’s 72^nd Republic day celebrated to mark the first revolution against the British regime. Sr Sunitha Pinto the Superior of Fatima Convent was the chief guest and hoisted the tri- colour Flag. On this day the Teachers’ of primary high school conducted a small prayer service along with a patriotic song to mark the festival of “unity in diversity.”

25^th Jan:National Voters Day It has been started from 26^th Jan 2011 to mark Commission’s foundation day. On this day the voter’s pledge has been taken by all the staff members along with headmistress

1^st Jan: School re-opening (VI^th and VII^th) With great sanitation , precautions and with mask compulsory school re- opened for VI^th and VII^th BEO – Shree Karikatti and Ex – CM Shree Jagadish Shettar visited and examined our school and interacted with Students and Staff. On this day the staff member underwent the Covid -19 test in St Michael School at Shantinagar, Hubballi.

Advent Challenge – (Candle of Hope, Love , Joy & Peace )

1^st Advent – Candle of Hope: The first advent was organized by VI^th  and VII^th   Std Teachers on 28^th November 2020 . Sr Margaret the headmistress of our School lighted the candle and dropped a message on the light of God coming into the world through the birth of Jesus Christ. The Candle of Hope – is like a light shining in a dark place.

2^nd Advent – Candle of Love: The Second Advent was organized by V^th and III^rd Std teachers on 6^th Dec 2020. All the Teaching staff gathered and the candle was lightened by Sr. Lolita. The teachers highlighted the message on the significance of Candle of Love to the students and parents.

3^rd Advent – Candle of Joy: The third advent was organized by I^st  , II^th & IV^th  Std teachers on 13^th Dec 2020. Sr. Margaret D’souza the headmistress of our School delivered a message by lighting the Candle of Joy. We whispered our prayer to those people who are suffering with pandemic.

4^th Advent – Candle of Peace: The fourth advent was organized KG teachers on 20^th Dec 2020. Sr. Margaret D’souza lighted the candle and shared the message that Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace.

3^rd Dec – Kanakadas Jayanthi:  “Kanakadasa Jayanthi” was celebrated by Staff to mark the birth anniversary as a tribute to one of the great social reformer.

23^rd Nov – Unity in diversity: All the staff members gathered together in an ethnic way to mark unity in diversity.

20^th Nov – National Brotherhood Day: A message was delivered on National Brotherhood Day about safety measures.

19^th– Nov – National Integration Day. On this day all the teachers were made to take an oath of Unity and Oneness.

14^th Nov – Children Day Celebration: A Speech was given by Headmistress Sr. Margaret & Tr.Kadam regarding children day celebration in this pandemic and a small wishing song was sung by all the teachers. All this was video recorded and sent to each class group on that day itself. A small artist of our School Azra Anam Bepari studying in std IVth A was honoured and felicitated with a moment and a shawl for her various drawings and paintings which she has done during the lockdown pandemic.

1^st Nov – Karnataka Rajyotsava: On this occasion a small prayer service was conducted and followed by the speech of our Headmistress Sr. Margaret D’souza and Tr. Kadam about safety & unity among ourself.

31^st October – Valmiki Jayanthi: Prayer service was conducted to mark this occasion by 2^nd and 7^th std teachers and ended with a short speech by Kadam Teacher in kannada.

Demo Class: As per the guidelines demo classes were conducted for subject teachers for better improvement. The headmistress  evaluated the demo classes and given the feedback to the teachers.

October – Nutritious Month: ( VI^th and VII^th std) Since sept 2020 is observed as nutrition month, the teachers visited the nearby areas and educated the students about it and given the awareness of eating healthy food etc. Quiz was conducted based on the importance of vegetables & fruits rich in vitamin C to boost immunity during this pandemic and measures for Covid -19

Gahandi Jayanthi Celebration: A small prayer service was conducted by the 1^st & II^nd std teachers. A floral tribute was done to the portrait of Gandhiji.

15^th Independence day “No caste can divide us, no laws can separate us, no colours or creeds can decide our future because we are children of one mother.” With great patriotism we the teachers and staff of St. Michael Hr. Pry and Higher Secondary school together with the benefactor Mrs. Rebello hoisted the National Flag and with great enthusiasm sang the Nation Anthem saluting the Flag. Mask and social distance was maintained.

3^rd –  July  Vanamahotsava “Don’t make tree rare, keep them with care.” Since schools are closed for COVID-19, teachers had a thought of re- potting the plants in order to give them a new look and life to grow in a clean surrounding.

18^th June Mask day “Prepare and prevent, don’t repair and repent.”“ Since the Govt of Karnataka decided to observe ‘ Mask day’ our teachers took up the idea to educate & spread awareness to the public nearby School about the use of masks, sanitizers, washing hands with soap which aimed at controlling the spread of Covid 19.

6^th -June SDMC meeting “Team work begins by building trust.” A meeting of school management and parent representatives was conducted to discuss about re-opening of the school as per the circular from July 2020, whether to conduct shift wise classes and about the safety measures for the students.

5^th – June – World environment day “Plant a tree and add a new friend in your life.” In this pandemic because of the lockdown our teachers and the staff took the initiative of planting and watering plants wearing  a mask.

3^rd -June –  Staff meeting “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” School first staff meeting of the academic year 2020-21 was held in the school library and was chaired by headmistress  Sr. Margaret D’souza to discuss about the school re-opening as per the circular, about on-line and video classes for the students and about the text books.

2^{nd –} June Sanitation of the school “Sanitization and hygiene starts with You and Me.” The entire school was sanitized because of COVID-19. Sanitizers were used and kept at the entrance of the school gate. Parents and teachers were advised to wear mask and maintain social distance.

Teachers Seminar-1^st Feb 2020: ‘Safe and unsafe touch’, every child deserves to grow up feeling safe and loved. An exclusive one day seminar was conducted by the young Indian institute, Hubballi – Dharwad, along with the chapter director Dr M. M.Joshi eye institute.  All of us i.e. teaching and non-teaching staff attended and were inspired by the talks and the video clippings shown on good and bad touch by Mr. Rajendra and Mrs. Sumathi.

Prize distribution: STD 1^st to 7^th – 7^th Feb, 2020: “Life is a competition; world is the place; attitude is your skill; success is your prize”. Our Institution has given equal opportunities to all the students so that they realize their true potential and inculcate competitive spirit and our school organized various competitive exams and motivated the students towards the talent that each one poses.

Teachers Picnic – Visit to our Lady of Harihar Basilica -8^th Feb, 2020: “Hail, God’s palace:Hail Tabernacle of the most high:Hail, his holy vestments, Hail, Handmaid of God” . Our Lady of Harihar Shrine was blessed and declared as ‘Basilica’ by our Pope Francis on 15^th Jan’2020. Our Teaching and non-teaching staff made a spiritual visit and seek the blessing of our lady.

Field trip: 12^th Feb’2020: Std VII ‘A’ & ‘B’ Agriculture College Dharwad: “Agriculture is the most healthful, most useful and most noble employment of man”. Our students of std VII with full of enthusiasm visited the agricultural college Dharwad and showed keen interest in listening and asking the Professors about different kinds of plantations, trees, crops and the equipment used by our farmers.

18^th Feb’2020: Std VI ‘A’ & ‘B’ Industrial Estates: ‘Today is your opportunity to build the tomorrow you want’: The students of std VI A & B visited the industrial estates to know and study  about the fruit pulp industry, bakery food industry,  popped rice mill and paper mill.

25^th Feb’2020: Std V ‘A’ & ‘B’ Khadi Gramodyog Samyukta Sangh: “If we have the Khadi Spirit in is, than we should surround ourselves with simplicity in every walk of life” –M.K. Gandhi: It is our privilege and proud to say that we belong to a city which is famous for Khadi. It is first in India to produce khadi and our national flag is being sewed over here. Our students of Std V A & B were taken to show how the national flags made and khadi fabrics sewed. They also visited the nature cure yoga centre and gained a lot of information about it.

09.01.2020: “Swachhata Survekshane”: “Saving of earth is the first and foremost responsibility of everyone, so let’s do it.” “Think globally act locally”.  An app ‘Swachhata  Survekshane” was introduced to all the teaching and non-teaching staff as per the order by the Education and HDMC commissioner with regards to Swachhata. Master Godfrey Lobo helped the teachers to download the app and he also trained how to use it.  Teachers were also guided to train the students and parents how to download  and make use of this app. To make sure that everyone has downloaded the app OTP number along with the mobile number was been collected and forwarded to BEO office.

23.01.2020: Best out of waste: “Recycle today for a better tomorrow”: Best out of waste competition was held for the students of std 1^st to 4^th. Students participated and came out with different and unique creativity prepared out of waste i.e. using old newspapers, used juice bottles, glasses, wools, cloth, ice-cream sticks, match boxes etc…..

23.01.2020: “Taking an image, freezing a moment for future”. Class-wise photos were taken from L.K.G to std VII just to cherish the present moment to the future. Along with this teaching and non-teaching staff photo was taken.

26.01.2020: “Republic Day Celebration”: “Be the change you want to see in this world and feel proud to be an INDIAN”. A colorful cultural program was given by both high school & primary students to mark our nationality. Chief guest of the day was Miss. Akshatha Algavi our past student who is presently serving as village accountant at shiggaon.   On this occasion as per the order by B.E.O. cleanliness oath was been taken.

7^th December – Star making competition (V^th – VII^th ): Star making competition was held on 7^th December 2019 for the students of std V^th-VII^th on the eve of Christmas celebration at School. The students have actively participated and prepared attractive and colorful stars.

21^st Dec Christmas Celebration (I – VII std):    Christmas is a time for peace, love, joy and happiness. On 21^st Dec 2019, students gathered to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ with great joy & happiness.

13^th, 18^th & 20^th Annual day celebration (I^st – VII^th ): The Annual day program from 1^st – VIIth was celebrated on 13^th (Std I^st – IV^th ), 18^th (V^th – VII^th). The theme of the day: 13^th – “Family is a circle of strength and love”; 18^th – “Rays of Hope”;. The presidents of the respective days were Rev. Sr Sunitha J Fernandes, Rev. Sr Jacintha Rufina Sequeria and Sr Lucella Coelho. On these days, the program was celebrated with different cultural activities, honouring the guest. Students have enthusiastically participated and showed their talents. All the parents who have gathered enjoyed the program; lastly the celebration was ended by giving the Christmas message.

Christmas symbols making competition – std 3^rd : Students of std 3^rd participated in Christmas symbols making completion, which was  organized on 19^th December, 2019.

1^st November – Karnataka Rajyotsava: Constitution gave us faith, freedom peace and pride so let us value the day it was created. On the occasion of Karnataka Rajyotsava a very meaning prayer service was conducted by the students of std VII A& B. Clipping was shown to the Children, Tr kadam gave the message on the importance of the day, and the programme proceeded with some wonderful dance performed by the students.

2^nd November -Nadageete singing competition (Singing is just a feeling set to music): Kuvempu “Jaya bharata jananiya tanujate was declared Nadageete state Anthem. Classwise singing competition was conducted for std V to VII on 25^th Oct on the eve of Karnataka Rajyotsava. Students sang melodiously.

14^th November – Childrens’ day celebration: Children are the future, the hope of brighter tomorrow they are the symbol of promise and potential. Meaningful programme was conducted by the Tr’s with some entertainment programmes . All the children enjoyed the programme.

15^th November Kanakadasa Jayanthi: “Kanakadasa Jayanthi” as celebrated by Trs and student to mark the birth anniversary as a tribute to one of the great social reformer with prayer service.

Sports: Conducted by the department. Talent wins games by team work and intelligence wins championship. Many of our students participated in different games. The following are the winners of gold, silver and bronze medals

OCTOBER 2019

October 2^nd Gandhi Jayanthi: “ Be the change that you want to see in the world”. India marked the 150^th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi who inspired the world with his ideas a pioneer of truth and non-violence. A meaningful prayer service was conducted by the students of std 1^st and 2^nd. Moral stories of Gandhi’s life were narrated by Tr. Kadam and Tr.Chitra  and gave good values to inculcate in students life. Cleanliness was given importance high lighting the significance of the day.

13^th October Valmiki Jayanti: “Life teaches us that we are not born good or evil. It’s our deeds that determine our greatness”. Valmiki Jayanthi the birth anniversary of the great author and sage is observed in honour of their acclaimed saint. The day began with special prayer service by the students std VII. Prayer service was indeed appreciable and inspiring for one and all. Clipping was shown about the life of Valmiki.

19^th October – Memory test competition: “Thinking ability is greater than physical strength”. Memory test was conducted for the student of Std V to VIII on 19^th Sat collection of items were kept and viewed for a minute and ask to memorized the item and write on the paper within given time. Students actively participated in the memory test.

23^rd October -Story telling competition (Moral Stories): Sometimes reality is too complex stories gives its form”. Story telling competition was held for the students of I and II topic – Moral Stories. It improves listening skill that are essential in learning. It is best way of engaging and educating the emotion of the students the moral stories always teaches to love and forgive others.

24^th October – Seminar on acupressure / colour theraphy for std VI & VII std: Demonstrated and explain the importance of method of relieving pain and curing illness by putting pressure on particular points of a person’s body with finger tips or thumbs. Along with its ability to help treat variety of ailments by acupressure massage. It’s deeply relaxing can help with relieving stress, tension and anxiety improving sleep. The students were very happy to know the first aid to treat the patient.

25^th October Science Exhibition: “The science of today is the technology of tomorrow”. “Promoting interest in science and technology among younger generation, encourage scientific and technological creativity among the students and including a sense of pride in their talent. Science exhibition was held for the students of std V to VII. Students actively participated using experimental models and the judges (Asha Teacher & Leena Teacher) were called to judge the final round and selected the winners

25^th October Diwali Celebration: Mark the victory of good over evil with their auspicious occasion comes bunch full of happiness, prosperity and hope. It marks the beginning of cheerful moment filled with joy with meaningful prayer service by the teachers. Headmistress ended the program saying; May the supreme light illumines your mind, enlighten your heart and strengthen the human binds in homes and community.

25^th October – Pick and Speak Competition: “The learner is encouraged to think and memorized”. Recognizing the need for the students pick and speak competition was organized for the students of  3^rd & 4^th on topic “My Family”.  It was indeed a great joy to see students to speak on the topic – over all it was an enjoyable and learning experience for the students.

31^st October – Sadar Vallabai Patel Jayanti: Sardar Patel is most popularly known as a founding father of the Republic of India. For his efforts towards a united India. Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary is now celebrated as National Unity Day. This is also known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas On this day, Our Students gathered together in part taking the Oath and ended the programme.

SEPTEMBER 2019

5^th September – Teachers’ day:  “Teaching is not a service, professions or a job, It is a pillar of the society”.  The day reminds the great personality Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan who dedicated his birthday as a tribute to all our teachers in the nobel field. A meaning ful prayer service has been conducted by the student of std Vth with various cultural activities. The management honoured the teachers with gifts and bouquet. Thereafter lunch at School.

7^th September – Nativity of Lady (Mother Mary): All the Catholic Students of Std 1^st to VII th  conducted meaningful Novena on the eve  of Nativity of Mother Mary  theme “ Mary leads the way , show the way , follow her.”The student beautifully recited the Rosary and prayers with melodious hymns.

14^th September – Visit to Ingalhalli: “Give and you will receive in hundred folds’. Our Headmistress with the staff visited Ingalhalli village   Which was affected due to heavy rains and flood we also distributed some basic needs in kind to the people.

15^th September – Rashtra Aradhana: Propath Academy Pvt Limited organized Rashtra Aradhan . A music tribute programme in Hubli. 14 Schools has been selected, St Michael School is one among them about 75 children participated and sang the song “Nanha munna rahi hu,”  beautifully and created patriotism.

16^th– Gandhi Jayathi week : “ In a gentle way you can shake the world”. On the eve of 150^th birth anniversary week the department asked to conduct various programme like prayer service, fancy dress, quiz , bhajans , swatch bharat, essay writing. All the Students actively participated in various activities very sportively.

25^th September International Worm Day: The aim of this programme is to dewarm all the children 1- 19yrs and improve their wellbeing. Departmental meeting was conducted to bring awareness among the students how to keep themselves clean and hygienic and Deworm tablet was distributed to all the students. Tr Kadam explained in detail about Deworm to all the Students.

30^th September St. Michael Feast: “Small cheer and great welcome makes a merry feast”. St Michael feast was celebrated with prayer service by the Students of Std IV and beautiful programme high lighting the importance of victory over evil with the message of our beloved Headmistress. Sr Margaret D’souza thereafter followed by feast mass in the convent Chapel relished with meals to the staff.

AUGUST 2019

3^rd August  – Friendship Day: “Good times and crazy friends make best memories”. Time to wish all friends and express feeling of caring and sharing friendship day greeting cards.
On 3^rd August the students of V to VII had prepared greeting cards of friendship on topic “Nature drawing and slogan” were beautifully prepared by them and exchanged the card with their best friends.

3^rd August  – Origami (Emoji’s – preparing happy faces using chart). Students of std 1 -2^nd prepared Emojis of different feelings.Students of Std 3rd & 4th prepared creative objects by using  yellow colour origami papers and exchanged with their friends . All the students were in yellow colour dresses.

13^th August  – Rangoli competition: Rangoli competition was held on 13^th August for std V-VII^th . “National symbols using tri –colour”. Rangoli is a fabulous free hand drawing. Children expressed their imagination and indulge their heart and souls in the spirit of competition. Student beautifully filled the tri-colour on the national symbols and enjoyed the festivity on independence and made the event more colourful.

15^th August – Independence Day Celebration: As the instruction by the department Independence day was celebrated in a   simple way because of the natural disaster effected in our district. On this occasion St. Michael Hr Pry School have contributed blanket, sarees, dresses etc for the flood relief people.

28^th August – PTA: “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”. Parents teachers meet was held on 28^th August morning for std IV^th to VII^th and afternoon for LKG to 3^rd std. The resources person for the day was Fr.Vincent Pereira of Mangalore.  The talk was very excellent and all the parents were acknowledged by his inspiration thoughts and were enlightened by many things to take care about. At the end of the day the most over whelming key to a child success is the positive involvement of parent.

29^th & 30^th August – Spiritual Orientation (Std VI^th , VII^th & Teachers): “Always turn a negative situation into a positive situation”. Fr William D’Souza of Bangalore humbly accepted our invitation to give spiritual orientation for the students of std VI^th  and VII^th. On 29^th and 30^th August Fr delivered inspiration message of good qualities and moral values of life. Students enjoyed the session with games and singing and insisted on the spiritual needs of human person. The orientation was arranged for teachers to understand the qualities, role of a teacher and simple activities arranged for teachers.

29^th August -Fit India Movement (at 3:15pm): On the screen Prime Minister Mr.Modi push fit India to lead India in taking the fitness pledge was displayed. Students attentively visualizing it.

JULY 2019

03.07.2019: Vanamahostsava by V-VII^th std: “Save the tree, save the earth we are the guardian of nature’s birth”: The month began with greenery that is Vanamahotsava. The students of std V to VII enthusiastically enacted the skit on the theme “Save the earth to save the world and brought the awareness among the student not to litter the waste, need of planting and nursing of trees, as trees are one of the best method to limit global warming and diminish pollution.

03.07.2019: Waste paper images by III^rd – IV^th std: The students of 3^rd and 4^th made use of all the waste paper into the shape of confetti’s and struck on the drawing made on the chart paper to give new look. “Waste paper images’.

03.07.2019: Charts display fruits – vegetables – flowers by I^st –II^nd std: The student of 1^st and 2^nd had a colourful chart display of fruits, vegetables giving the message “Eat healthy, stay wealthy”.

11.07.2019: World population day: “Keep a small family to have big happy life”: On this day PPT had been shown to the students of std V to VII and Tr Jennifer spoke about advantages and disadvantages.
Students wrote essay after visualizing PPT. The students of std 1^st to 4^th had jolted, coloured, painted on the chart keeping in mind the “small family is happy family”.

15.07.2019: Dental health camp: “Brush , brush , brush your teeth, brush it twice a day”: Healthy teeth healthy India – Organised by SODC – Society for oral and dental care by Dr. Shweta. She gave awareness about hygiene and dental care for the students of std 1^st to 7^th and instructed the students to brush the teeth twice a day to avoid cavity and gum infection and also make habit of eating healthy food.

20.07.2019: Preparing objects – Best out of waste: “Art is not what you see, but what you make others to see”: Little hands and imagination came together in a creativity “best out of waste”.  We teachers focus on children, as we aim to bring them to understand the importance of preserving the environment and learn about sustainability not to throw away the waste things, use them again for different purposes which may not harm the nature.   Students of std V –VII prepared creative and innovative model from different waste material. They created an amazing array of display item and useful object. Everyone were impressed.

JUNE 2019

28^th May -Spiritual Orientation
“To teach is to touch a life forever”
To begin the academic year by invoking God’s blessings spiritual orientation was organized for the staff of St.Michael higher primary and high School, keshwapur along with the staff of St.Michael School Shantinagar at provincialate. Fr. Vincent Pereira was the resource person who gave talk on teaching the moral values.

1^st June – Academic Prayer Service
“A grateful heart is a beginning of greatness”
A meaningful prayer service was conducted by the students of Std VII. Our headmistress Sr Margaret D’Souza welcomed the students and the newly appointed staff with inspiring and motivating words. A skit was enacted by the students of Std VII based on the theme “Save the environment to the save world”.

4^th June – Ramzan Celebration
“Eid is happiness, Eid is love, Eid is dedication”
A meaningful prayer service was conducted by the students of Std VI. The headmistress highlighted the importance of Ramzan in her speech. Muslim students were greeted on their occasion by showing the clippings.

6^th June – World Environment day
“It’s not yours, nor mine. It’s ours, so protect your mother who nourish you”.
The teachers of Std 1^st to 4^th enacted a skit on how to save water. The students were the keen observers of the skit.
The students of Std V to VII along with the teachers went out for rally. Later they visited Harijan School at Ramnagar. A small stage play was enacted by the students to bring awareness how to protect our environment.

12^th June- Investiture Ceremony
“Be a LIGHT not a JUDGE, be a MODEL not a CRITIC”.
It was a great celebration moment in the hearts of Michaelean family has the council body was formed by the president. Sr. Margaret D’souza. Prayer service was organized to bestow God’s blessings on the newly elected. The president of the council body Sr. Margaret D’Souza leader delivered meaningful and inspiration speech to the leaders, parents, staffs and students.
It was a time of great pomp and show when the president led the ministers in oath taking and honoured them sashes. The parents of the ministers pinned the badges to their ward. It was a remarkable moment. The headmistress honoured the parents with a moment as a token of our love. School Pupil Leader led the cabinet members in oath taking. Saplings was given to the parents by the elected ministers has a pledge to protect and save our environment

 21^st –June Collage Competition by Vth –VIIIth  Std
“No human technology can replace ‘nature’s technology”
The Students of Std V to VII were encouraged by the teachers to replace collage on the topic “humans impact on biodiversity”. All the students actively participated.

21^st –June Fancy Dress Competition by IIIrd & IVth Std
“Pleasure is the job puts perfection in the work”
The blooming buds of Std 3^rd and 4^th exhibited fancy dress competition on the theme different occupation on the occasion of World Childrens’ Rights day.

21^st June Yoga Day
“Yoga lets people discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature”
World yoga day was observed on 21^st June by performing various asanas by the students of Std 1^st – VII^th. Awareness on the importance of Yoga in our lives was highlighted.

27^th June – Awareness on Tobacco
“Tobacco leaves an unseen scar, it fills your insides with toxins and tar”
Health and family welfare Dharwad organized a programme for the students of Std V to VII. Mr. Kalapannavar the resource person gave talk on harms (danger) of using tobacco. He concluded his talk by asking the staffs and students to keep the School area has Tobacco free zone.

 28^th-June Ouiz Competition by V –VIIth Std on Current events
“Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind”
Ouiz Competition on Current events was organized for the students of Std V to VII. All the students participated.

The academic session began ith class engaged by Sr.Sunitha Pinto. Rev. Fr Joseph from Suttagatti [S.D.B] offered Eucharistic Celebration.

MARCH 2019

Superannuation Ceremony [ 02^nd  –March ]: A superannuation ceremony was organized by the staff and students for Mrs. Mary Regina who completed her service. The deputy secretary Rev. Sr. Jacintha Sequeira was present on the occasion.

Prize distribution  [ 06^th March ]: Std I to IV distributed the prizes to the students for the various activities conducted for the academic year. The parents were invited to distribute the prizes.

Farewell  [ 09^th March ]: The students of Std VII were given a farewell by the students of Std VI.

FEBRUARY 2019

FA – 4 Exam conducted [04th – 07^th Feb]: Students are prepared for the academic exams and evaluated for FA-4 and open day was conducted on the same.

Hanging the unused things on mercy wall [ 09^th Feb ]: Students of Std VII made themselves a packets of necessary commodities and well- to do clothes and visited the wall of mercy wherein they hanged the things to the wall where people in need of it can take and use them.

An outing to Equip India [11th Feb]: Students of Std VI had been for an outing to Equip India where students were shown how the disabled students have the creative minds to bring out their talents. And the students also learnt that no person is lame until you sit ideal without any work.

Safety Week (11th – 17^th Feb ): Safety week was observed in the school by  conducting Essay competition & drawing competition for the students of Std IV to VII.

Visit to old age home (15th Feb ): The students of Std V had a visitation to an old age home. Where the students had spent some time with the elderly people talking, playing sharing their experience. Students enjoyed their day with them.

Donation / Charity to poor ( 20^th Feb ): Amount collected from the students from Std I – VII was handed over to Headmistress as a charity to be given for the needy.

Appreciation Day (27th Feb ): Prize distribution was held on 27^th Feb and students were given their medals certificate and mementos for their talents in various competition which were held throughout the year i.e. 2018-19 academic year.

JANUARY 2019

2^nd January [School – Reopen]: School Re-opens as usual after the Christmas vacation.

12^th January [FA-3 Open day]: Fa – 3 open day was held for the parents and students to check their papers and to sign it was on Saturday from 9am to 11am.

24^th January [Honoring of Provincial]: Sr Sunita Fernandes Provincial Superior of Hubli Province was welcomed and honoured by Sr Margaret D’souza along with primary teaching and non-teaching staff.

26^th January (Republic day): Republic day was celebrated with great respect to the nation by hoisting the flag and beautiful cultural programme. High school Headmistress Provincial Superior Sr Sunita Fernandes was the guest of the day.

DECEMBER 2018

3^rd Standard Picnic [ 04^th  – Dec ]: Class picnic was conducted for 3^rd std to Dharwad Adventure Base on 4^th December. To the same picnic spot Std 2^nd, 4^th, 5^th, 6^th and 7^th were also being accompanied with the staff on different dates. Std 4^th & 5^th – 18^th December, Std 2^nd – 19^th December, Std 6^th & 7^th – 20^th December. It was a day’s picnic where the students enjoyed to their extreme and were educated about being close to nature.

FA – 3 Test [ 06 – 07 & 10 – 11 Dec ]: FA – 3 written exam was conducted for all the students from Std 1^st to 4^th.

Excursion to Mysore [ 11^th -13^th Dec ]: Class picnic was conducted for Std 6^th & 7^th to Mysore. Departure time 11^th Dec – 9:30pm, Arrival time 13^th Dec – 8:00am. It was 2 nights & 1 day trip where children have enjoyed to their fullest. They were also educated about the ways of staying close to the environment and united.

 

Carol Singing Competition [ 21^st Dec ]: Std 1^st to 7^th had a carol singing competition with new and  creative ideas and judges were our Head mistress Sr. Margaret D’souza and Sr. Lolita.

Christmas Celebration [ 21^st Dec ]: Christmas celebration was held and conducted in the new hall with beautiful decorations prayer service, carols singing and dance by the students of Std 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th and 6^th and later sweets were distributed to the students. The importance of the Christmas decorations was highlighted.

 

Staff Christmas Celebration [ 22^nd Dec ]: Christmas celebration was held on 22^nd December with a small prayer service in the convent chapel and later Christmas gifts were exchanged among the staff which was a secret revealer for everyone a surprise set by our Headmistress Sr. Margaret D’souza. And gifts were given to all the staff members by our Head mistress and snacks, coffee was served.

NOVEMBER 2018

Karnataka Rajostava:  [1^st November ]: Prayer service was conducted on the eve of Karnataka Rajostava in a meaningful way followed by some cultural programme and importance of the day was highlighted by Kadam teacher by showcasing the great people of our state and mentioned about their works for our kannada mathe.

Cartoon Drawing Competition: [9^th November ]: Std 1^st -4^th teachers have conducted the Drawing competition on the topic “Cartoon” with images of finders and vegetables where children brought out their talent of drawing.

Science & Social Exhibition: [ 10^th November ]: Science & Social Exhibition was held on 10^th November and students of Std V – VII to active participation using experiments/models and the judges have selected the final winners on the same day.

Class – wise games: [ 13^th November ]: On the occasion of children’s day class wise games were conducted and prizes were distributed on the children’s day.

Children’s Day: [ 14^th November ]: Children’s day was celebrated where in the teachers conducted a meaningful prayer service followed by entertainment programmes by our teachers were put forth for our beloved students. Also spot games were conducted and children were delighted. Children showed enthusiasm for the same.

Advertisement competition: [ 16^th November ]: Std 1^st – 2^nd students participated in advertisement competition and exhibited their talents by enacting healthy advertisement activity.

 

English Kannada & Hindi, Handwriting competition & Grammar competition: [20^th November ]: Students were encouraged for handwriting competition & grammar competition from std 1^st – 7^th children were very enthusiastically participated and won class – wise prizes.

Kanakadasa Jayanthi: [ 26^th November ]: Std 5^th – 7^th students took part in the celebration of Kanakadasa Jayanthi and marked the occasion.

Class Picnic: [ 30^th November ]: Std 1^st students are taken for one day picnic to “Dharwad Adventure base”.

OCTOBER 2018

2^nd October: [Gandhi Jayanthi]
On the eve of Gandhi Jayanthi a meaningful prayer service was conducted by the students of Std 3^rd with the help of class teachers. Moral stories of Gandhiji’s life were spoken by one of our teacher and gave the good values to inculcate in our life. Cleanliness was given importance; students clean the campus to mark the occasion.

01^st – 12^th October: [Semester I Examination]
Academic activities with cultural programmes add up importance to education. SA – 1 exam for students were conducted from 01 to 12 October which included orals and written.

08^th – 14^th October: [Basic Counseling programme]
8 of our teachers benefited by attending this programme where in our resource person Sr Carmalita guided them to counsel others it also helped our teachers to have good time of relaxation, meditation with over all classes and sessions.

24^th October: [Valmiki Jayanthi]
To make students aware of the great personality Maharshri Valmiki who has written the “Ramayana”. Gangu Kadam Teacher spoke about the life of Valmiki. Clippings were shown to educate the students about the same.

27^th October: [Open Day]
To make the parents aware about their child’s progress in academic, open day was held on 27^th of October.

30^th October: [Awareness programme by Union Bank]
An awareness programme was conducted by the employee’s of Union Bank about the corruption which is taking place in India. They also gave importance of saving amount for the future which will be secured in the bank. Students benefited by the awareness. The students of Std 3^rd and 4^th prepared albums on the autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi. Students benefitted by gathering information about the great personality.

31^st October: [Sardar Vallabhai Patel]
An oath was taken by all the students on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patil as to build our nation with truth and justice.

SEPTEMBER 2018

29^th September [ St Michael Feast]
On the occasion of St. Michael feast, the teachers enacted a skit on showing the importance of trees, depicting as good and the destruction as evil.

 19-20^th September [ PTA ]
A two days PTA was held for class 1-4^th parents. Sr Lilly Pushpa was the guest speaker who spoke on the child safety and guidelines for the parents to follow. Std 5-7^th had the PTA on 19-09-2018 in the morning and later in the afternoon the LKG and UKG was followed. Std 1-4^th had on 20-09-2018 in the morning session and in the afternoon a seminar was conducted by the guest speaker on the students safety and the laws enforced for children to take action if necessary on a complain given by the students/children.

10^th September [ Dictation Competition ]
To improve the vocabulary of the students, dictation competition was conducted for the students. The students of Std 5-7^th  had it in English, Kannada, Hindi languages the words were taken from Newspaper and magazines. The students of Std 1-4^th dictation competition from the words found in the school calendar.

7^th September [ Nativity ]
Our school conducted the nativity of our lady Mother Mary at St. Joseph’s church on 07-08-2018.

5^th September [Teacher’s Day]
Teacher’s day was celebrated with grandeur. The students put up a wonderful and meaningful prayer service. The students also spoke about S. Radhakrishnan for which we celebrate “Teacher’s Day”.

AUGUST 2018

15^th August 2018: Independence Day
Independence day was celebrated with pomp and glory which was hosted by St. Michael Hr Primary School various cultural programs were conducted. The chief guestof the day was Smt. Smitha Jadhav (Corporator of Ramnagar) who appreciated the beautiful / systematic programme.

 14^th August 2018: Preparing Creative items
On the occasion of Independence day celebration various decorative items were made by the students of all the classes. Tri-colour objects were prepared by the students which added beauty to the celebration.
Std 7^th made tri-coloured items using disposal glasses.
Std 6^th show-cased their talents with beautiful tri-coloured rangoli’s.
Std 5^th prepared flags with papers
Std 3^rd – 4^th made colourful kites which added beauty to mark the occasion.

10^th August 2018: Fancy dress competition for 1^st – 2^nd Std
The students of Std 1^st & 2^nd were beautifully dressed as freedom fighters of our country. The values of freedom were instilled in the young minds.

9^th August 2018: Fancy dress competition (Social reformers)
To make the students aware of the great social reformers of our country, fancy dress competition was conducted for the students of Std 3^rd – 4^th. Many students took part and highlighted the various social reformers.

3^rd August 2018: World Friendship Day
Today go out and share your smile, a hug, a kind word and thus students of Std 6^th visited the St. Peter’s orphanage on the occasion of world friendship day and were happy to celebrate the occasion with spending time, singing songs and distributing of gifts which were purchased from their pocket money. Various competitions held for the occasion of Independence day.

JULY 2018

LKG – UKG paper bag:
The students of LKG –UKG were taught to make simple paper bags which can be used to carry light weights. The students showed lots of interest in the activity and flaunted their bags.

Pot decoration
The students of Std V beautifully displayed the pots which were decorated on the occasion of vanamahostava. It was a beautiful scenario to watch the simple pots turned into artistic excellence.

Teacher’s Seminar
The department organized a teacher’s seminar for half a day. Various points were discussed, explained and clarified in the same.

Vanamahotsava
Various classes celebrated Vanamahotsava in grandeur. The students of class LKG – UKG watered the plants, Std 1 – 2 had drawing competition related to the topic. Std 3 – 4 celebrated by conducting composition competition. Std 6 – 7 organized a rally and had slogan writing competition.

World population day
On account of world population day the students of Std IV – V were shown a ppt. The students of Std I – III were educated by documentary presentation. Std VI – VII performed a street play in the neighborhood to educated the masses over the problems faced due to over population.

31^st May 2018 – Prayer Service for the new academic year.
We had a meaningful prayer service organized by std 7^th for the new academic year Sr Margaret the Headmistress gave the inspiring message regarding the discipline of the school.

30^th May 2018 skit by teachers
The teachers brought awareness among the students through their enactment to stop using plastics.

29^th May 2018 Re-opening
School re-opened for the staff and students.  The school environment was kept clean and neat.  It was very pleasant and fresh to start new academic year students were welcomed by headmistress and staff.

28^th May 2018 – Spiritual Orientation
New academic year began with a spiritual orientation programme.  Both primary and high school teachers were present.  Sr Juliana Pinto addressed the programme.  She stressed on the important of handling children based on their mental capabilities.  She also explained 10 important role played by teacher in the life of students.

21^st June 2018- International Yoga Day
International Yoga Day was observed on 21^st June by performing various asanas by the students of std 6^th to 7^th.  Importance of yoga in our lives was highlighted.

21^st June 2018 – World Children’s Right Day
On the event of child Right Day the students of std 5^th had a meaningful fancy dress competition. Students of std 2^nd to 4^th prepared beautiful albums to mark the occasion. A documentary on child’s right was shown to students of std 1^st, which was prepared by the class teachers of std 1^st .

13^th June 2018- Investiture Ceremony
Students of std 6^th and 7^th held a prayer service under the leadership of Mrs. Lilliyana , Mis Gangu Kadam and Mr. Godfrey Lobo.  The cabinet team was inaugurated by giving them badges by the President of the Parliament Sr Margaret D’Souza. Vidyalakshmi was elected as the school pupil leader and Amaan Khan as Deputy School Pupil Leader.

12^th June 2018-Documentary show on child labour.
As per the instruction from the CRP a documentary was shown to the students of std 5^th – 7^th based on the child labour and how it affects the national treasure i.e. the future of the children who are going to be the citizens of tomorrow.

5^th June 2018- World Environment Day
On the account of World Environment Day a PPT was prepared by the teachers of std 3^rd and 4^th on the importance of saving and protecting our environment.  Students showed interest in the explanation to save and heal the earth.
Students of std 5^th to 7^th were shown a skit on the importance of environment which was performed by the students of std 7^th.  They highlighted to reduce use of plastic and save our environment.
