Shanthinagar is two kilometres away from Hubli Town. Once a deserted, lonely place now it is a fast-growing town. The Ursuline Franciscan Sisters ventured into this area in the year 1996 and concentrated on their socio-medico apostolate. Many families started settling in the vicinity of St Michael’s as land cost was comparatively lower there than in Hubli town. The growing population, creating prospects of opening a new English Medium school, which again came as a request from the locals who preferred their kids to be educated in good surroundings, amidst good people.
The Sisters sought permission from the Department of Education to open a pre-primary as well as primary school. On June 2, 2003 LKG, UKG and Class I commenced simultaneously with a total strength of 157 students. The multi-purpose hall came to the rescue to accommodate the students Sr. Chrisia Laura Pinto, an enthusiastic, energetic and lively person, was appointed headmistress who won the hearts of the kids as well as their parents within a short time of taking up her responsibility. She was succeeded by Sr. Serena D’Souza an experienced Sister who after her superannuation volunteered to serve the nascent School which she did from 2004 to 2013. The first batch of students, 35 in number, walked out of the school with a record of 100% result. In the Year 2013 Sr. Prameela D’Souza took the baton of Headmistress from the hands of Sr. Serena D’Souza and in the year 2014 she passed it on to Sr. Lucy D’Souza. The school has now 845 pupils from I Standard to Class X.
