Assisi Campus is just along the border of two States of Nagaland and Assam. To support the operating cost of the vocational training centre and the pressure of the people the Sisters were compelled to open a school for children of the surrounding areas. The humble beginning of Assisi School, Dimapur, took place on January 19, 1987 in a small thatched building with a handful number of students.
As a result of the pioneering work of Sr Edilburga Monteiro, the then Mission Superior and first headmistress, and Sr Leena Mathias, the first assistant teacher, the School has taken the present shape.
Later Sr Pushpa took charge as headmistress in the same year. In 1992 Sr Elsie Castelino was appointed headmistress. She upgraded the School to primary level. In 1995 Sr Mary C J took charge as headmistress. Realizing the need to upgrade the School she worked for permission to start a high school. The required permission was obtained with No. NBE-1/EX-PER/96-97. There were 22 students in the first batch of HSLC Board Examination in 1999 and the School secured 100% results for three consecutive years. In the year 2002 Tarique was among the top ten securing the 9 th Rank in the State.
In the year 2009 Sr Benny Fernandes took charge as headmistress of the School. Gauging the pressing needs of the people and the demands of the present-day education system Assisi High School was upgraded to Assisi Hr. Sec. School with permission No.NBE-40/EX-Recog-HS/2010-11.
At present there are 721 students on the roll. 653 students successfully completed their studies and most of them continue their studies in different institutions. A few of them are appointed teachers and give their committed services in Assisi as well as in other schools. The required infrastructure is provided in the School. The students benefit from the school hall, a good library, a spacious playground, a good basket ball court and computer education that are made available to them. The school enjoys good support from the parents and neighbors. A compound wall is constructed to avoid any disturbance to the School.
The School aims at introducing the ‘Smart Class’ so as to provide better facilities and to prepare the students to be fully equipped to face the modern technological society.
